Rain-X Windshield Washer Fluid

I picked up a gallon of Rain-X windshield washer fluid about 2 months ago from Advanced Autoparts. It costs about $2-3 more than your average brand of washer fluid but it is totally worth it!

After using my windshield washers 4-5 times my windshield has been coated with the Rain-X treatment. Rain literally beads right off the windshield. You don't have to take the time to apply the windshield "wax" or whatever they call their original product.

It is also a de-icer up to -20 degrees.

It's not your typical blue color either. It's like a pale yellow/orange color. That's what struck my eye when I was in buying washer fluid.

I just thought I'd give you all a heads up on a product I'm really enjoying

I use Zaino Z-2 & Z-6 on all my glass.
Front, Side, Rear, Mirrors, and even the plastic Headlights & Taillights.
Works better then any of that Rain-X stuff.

The "fogging" that you see results from a very thin bead of water on the glass. Rain-X works best if you dont use the wipers. But when you do, it does tend to leave a very thin film of water on the glass for a second. If you clean your window (with glass cleaner and a rag - on a sunny day) it usually helps..

The windshield fluid/deicer is alright, but it does 'fog' right after you spray it on/turn on the wipers, goes away after a little while with the wipers on. Never had that problem with the hand applied rain-x.

I use Rain-x on all my windows, and also have the rain-x wiper blades. I use the rain-x in the spray bottle though, when my car is wet from washing it, i just spray it on the windows, works great. Sometimes i wax the windows when im' doing the car, but not often the rain x is just a lot easier

I tried some of the orange Rain-X stuff in my wife's Maxima and although it did alright on the glass, the Maxima has the washer nozzles on the hood, not the wiper arms and every time you shoot some out a little gets on the hood in a cone pattern in front of the nozzles. It left an oily residue on the paint that was cloudy and it was a bitch to get off. Even now if I wash the car clean I can see a difference in the paint where the Rain-X stuff went.

I'll never use it again.
