Radar comparo in Automobile Magazine

For anyone interested...

There is a Radar comparo towards the back of the Feb. Automobile Magazine.

They didnt actually give a overall rating to any of the detectors... but they had graphs for each function.

The V1 did well... but not superb in every category except "false alarms" in which it was almost the worst.

I read the comparo yesterday so Im not looking at it now, but I remember re-thinking my V1 purchase... but I just love that bogey-direction display on the V1... knowing when & when not to show off my brake lights is a worthy advantage.

Just buy one.

You always have the 30-day trial to fall back on if for some reason you don’t like it.

V1 is a religion and I’m a believer.

OMG, why is all this coming out all of a sudden, just as I'm getting ready to plonk down my $400.

I still have the very first, original V1 (for awhile now on loan) and I was just getting used to the arrows and the bogey counter. It's not so much of a gimmick to me anymore but I'm looking forward to the much improved new version.....still.

Going to the magazine/book store tomorrow, then I'm calling Mike.

They probably weren't using it in full logic mode.

Dead giveaway not using a comparo with objective measurements, that way you can make all the subjective observations you want, and may the radar detector with the most advertising space win.

I’ll be the first to admit (as I have in the past) that the V1 gives a lot of falses in town.
Its place to shine is on the highways.
The Full Logic mode helps a lot, but there are still a few that I get every day when I travel through downtown on my way to work.

There is this one newly remodeled restaurant that I pass every day that has some kind of RADAR alarm in it that the V1 gives me a full alert whenever I an within a mile of the place.
They even leave the darn thing on when the place is open.
It is a pain in the ASS.
This is where the “Bogey Counter” and directional arrows come into play.
If I ever go past there and see a “2” in the display, I will know to keep alert.

i'd rather have the false alarms and have it work when the real thing is there then not have it give off false alarms and not work at all....you learn to realize whats false and whats not anyways

Do you guys have good luck with the V1 when used in remote mode? How much detection range do you give up, if any?

The remote is just a display that makes the main unit less conspicuous from behind.
It allows you to put the remote display where only the driver can see, not every driver or cop looking through your back window.
The display on the main unit will “black out” and can’t be seen at night.
It doesn't effect the range at all.
