Raced a '98 BMW 328is
On my way home tonight, and I pass a '98 BMW 328is. It was a middle aged guy, about 40 or so.
We get up to the light and I'm not expecting a race. The guy didn't rev. on me or anything. Light turns green and the guy takes off. Fortunately, I gave it SOME gas off the line or I would have been toast. He easily has 2 cars on me midway through first gear because I wasn't anticipating a race. I even had VSA on and I was in SS.
So, I put the pedal to the floor to try to catch up. By the end of first I was still at least a full car length, if not more behind. Fear not fellow CL drivers...
2nd gear kicks in and I start to pull. By the end of 2nd gear I had him. He acknowledged his death and let off. I did the same.
He catches back up to me and asks me to pull off into a church parking lot that nearby.
He gets out of the car, walks over, extends his hand to shake mine and introduces himself. Talk about class...
So we talked for about 10 minutes, and he was real interested in my car. He even asked me to pop open the hood so he could take a look. He liked the CAI. He had never seen a CL before, so he was interested in the specs., etc. I told him to pop over to acl.com and take a peek.
His car was so perfect, inside and out. 5spd too... The guy could drive it too...
Quick research on car-stats.com shows that car does a 14.7 quarter mile. I'm surprised at the time, but the manny tranny helps. It would have been a great race at the track. Unfortunately, we only got up to about 60 or so...
Probably the best race I've had to date. And certainly the nicest person I've raced.
