Ok Im sick of every car I get I warp the rotors Im not looking to stop any better all I want is get a decent rotor better than stock.

So I found R1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors there a really good price. I put them on a friends 05 grand am last year and hes a crazy driver and hes had no issues. I was wondering if anyone has tried these rotors and what they think of them

Remeber I want something better than stock that is not going to warp on me (I dont need anything crazy like 2 piece BBKs)

I think Noah has or had R1 rotors...

 

and they are warped. im running EBC ultimax rotors and so is cjitty.

big thing to keep in mind about rotors is torque specs on your lug nuts. 80 ft lbs per lug

drlled rotors warp easily. i would get slotted

Don't get drilled.

 

Using a torque wrench on the front nuts will help a lot.

You can get the EBC rotors for under $200 a pair. Thats pretty cheap for a quality rotor.

Here is a great deal. I've used them on many cars and trucks, from racing to towing. Never once have I had a EBC rotor warp or crack. In fact the rotors have always outlasted the vehicle.

You can check there for the pads also. I've used all thier pads Green, Red, and Yellow. All are great.

I bought R1 rotors less than a year ago and the fronts are already warpped. These are extremely low quality rotors. Yes, they are cheaper than most but you will be buying better ones in a year. If I had just bought the EBC rotors as suggested earlier I would have been better in the long run.

They are a cheap option but you will be looking to replace them sooner then later.

I can't remember exactly but think that if they are drilled...you can't resurface them.

I bought my R1's around the same time Noah did, and mine are working fine. No warping whatsoever and I have put over 30k on them since then.

Is EBC just like the best-bang-for-buck-rotor or something? I mean Ive heard mixed reviews but Id rather go with a more reputable brand for my braking system...

Resurfacing a drilled/slotted rotor would probably be very foolish since youre just making it thinner and most likely increasing the probability that there will be stress fractures occuring near the drilled holes.

 

For the CLS they are very well priced. Some of thier other applications can get costly. The CLS rotors from EBC are now made in Japan. They just opened a new casting plant for select products. No Chinese/Taiwanese steel used in them.

What are some of the mixed reviews you have read? Like I said, I've never had a problem over the last 10 years using them. I have had a towing application resurfaced at 80K miles due to a glaze. That's it. Never a warp, or crack. At $179.00 a set for the CLS I don't think you can find a better rotor for that price.
No I'm not paid by EBC, just a loyal happy customer.

 

The problem with resurfacing driller rotors really is not making them thiner, (your only taking a few thousandths off) but that any good drilled rotor will have a bevel before the hole is drilled to prevent cracking. When you resurface them you are removing that bevel, and heat build up at the drilled hole is no longer uniform, and will promote cracking.

MrFluffy, DBA rotors are very good from what I have seen. Just another option. A little pricey, but it's a quality rotor.

 

I have read that over torquing the lug nuts will lead to warping. So when the dip shit at Big O' Tires decides to put you wheels on with a impact gun at 200+ Ft lbs, STOP HIM!! They claim they use a stop stick, thier full of shit. Make them use a TQ wrech. Not to mention it F's streches the threads.

 

still Im getting a set of R1 concept, 4 rotors for $114.99 Drilled and slotted.

But like I siad I warp my rotors, its my driving style, but now that you guys have siad you warp them I think Im going to get the EBC ones for the front and the R1s for the back I think there like $50 for the back.

I dont know about that. Are you talking set as in all 4 or a set for the front and set for the back? Ive found Rotora and StopTech for a set for the front and a set for the back between $150-$180

I've got R1 Concepts drilled/slotted, I think I was one of the first to get them on AZine. I've had them for about a year and they're still perfect.

 

I have a set currently, i bedded them in right, but they still warped after a while. I'd go with rotoras if I were u

I put R1 Concepts drilled/slotted rotors on my CL 2years ago and they warped on me after a year. So yea, id stick with the Rotora ones if I were you.

Also it took 4 or 5 phone calls to Rotora before I was told they use blanks made in China/Taiwan, not a good thing. A vendor on here will argue this fact, but won't say himself where they are made. I've never found any evidence that they are made anywhere else.

99% of thoes rotors you see on Ebay are also China blanks. China uses soft inconsitante steel, this promotes warping.

I have used Rotora for around 8 years on my car.....never once have I warped a rotor from them. It all goes back to proper bedding, and proper torque on the lug nuts. Liked them so much, I spent 1750 for the 2-piece BBK kit! LOL

 

I tried to go back and edit but ran out of time. In contrast I should have said I have read a few bad things about every brake company out there, including EBC. I just found less warping and cracking issues with the EBC's. My ONLY complaint about EBC was the dust from the Red Stuff pads. My yellows do not dust at all.

Just giving MrFluffy some other veiws. He seams to be very worried about warping.
