quick little convienant mod

So i did the vsa delete a while back successfilly and always wanted to figure out a way to have the traction control switch turned off when you start the car. Well i did this, sorta. I wired a seat belt wire to the vsa switch soo when you plug in your seat belt, it turns off traction control...i know, kinda half assed but i am satisfied. Under the driver seat there is a blue/red wire in the center of the clip i ran a wire from there to the wire connecting to the vsa switch that is orange / whie i believe. I will provide pics if anyone is interested....

lol

progression 04-18-2012 10:20 PM

Hey it works...and it makes me wear my seat belt more often lmao

richardparker 04-18-2012 10:33 PM

So this shuts off the tcs light ?

progression 04-18-2012 10:43 PM

Yes as soon as you buckle your seat belt it turns it off......you can also make a 555 monostable timer which, is complicated but would be the correct way to do it. The vsa switch when you push it it sends a signal to the orange/white wire it doesnt connect a circuit.

richardparker 04-18-2012 10:52 PM

Are you sure you can turn off the dash tcs light off with just the switch ?
How could I wire it so I would never see it ?
None of my seat belt wiring is connected.

progression 04-18-2012 10:56 PM

Im not positive if you are understanding whatt i did correctly....this isnt to shut off the tcs light or the vsa light.....this makes it so when you plug in the seat belt its basically like pushing the vsa button to turn the traction control off.

progression 04-18-2012 10:57 PM

Wait maybe im not understanding you lol

progression 04-18-2012 10:59 PM

And what a 555 monostable timer does is it gets an electrical signal when you start the car waits a few seconds and then sends an electric pulse out. Which is exactly what that slp unit is for firebirds/camaros which makes the traction control off when you start the car.

richardparker 04-18-2012 11:04 PM

I've deleted the vsa and have a tcs light on my dash now.
I want that gone.

After re reading your stuff it seams like you are only using the seat belt setup because your arm is to short to reach the switch

progression 04-18-2012 11:06 PM

Did you put the resistors on the wiring harnes where they clip into the vsa throttle body unit?

richardparker 04-18-2012 11:12 PM

I don't even have that,I'm using the base harness with the type s ecu.

progression 04-18-2012 11:22 PM

Oh...i wouldnt know.where to begin to help you. the lights probably just on because theres no vsa unit. If theres no problems with your car when you spin your wheels id say just pull the bulb out of the cluster if it bothers you.

you're gonna need to figure that out ... who knows what that ECU is doin because it sees no VSA present then worse what happens when it tries to stop wheel spin but cant

CL-S progression 01 04-19-2012 11:15 AM

if u never wanna see the light just pull out the cluster and remove the bulb.

civicdrivr 04-19-2012 12:37 PM

Ive found the easiest way to disable TCS/VSA is to buy a 6MT. :teef:

not sure what the ecu is doing but the car has the tcs off all the time. switch is useless and stays with the light on.

any codes show up from doing this ?

civicdrivr 04-19-2012 01:18 PM

Why would a CEL pop up for removing a light bulb?

aznboi2424 04-19-2012 03:42 PM

:werd: My auto shop teacher said that he used to put a piece of black tape over the seatbelt light.

The OP's thread title doesn't lie, this truely is a convenience mod.
