Quick Hose Help Please

Ok this question relates to Jeep Cherokee, but an engine is an engine and hoses are hoses.

My girl came into work today and her coolant resevior is almost empty and there is coolant ALL over the front half of the engine bay, like the front fan and what not. My assumptin was it was a hose and after checking i found small hole in the hose right above everything that was soaked. I checked the resevoir but saw no trace of cracks. But the hose was completely dry and everything else was still wet. Now was this cause its a hot rubber and evaporated the coolant by the time i saw it and this is more then likely the problem? Or does this sound like something other then a hose? I liked to figure it out cause if i have to run down to a autozone or whatever and replace the hose and be done with it cool. what i dont want is her driving this thing arounf constantly filling up with coolant till she can get it looked at.

Thank you in advance.

i dont know the exact year, one of two door boxy cherokees. its a 199X model. I thought radiator too, but i would think if the radiator went it wouldnt get all over the front covering where it did. I would have expected more of a mess from under the car. im just curious, im still going to try and replace that hose regardless, but if anyone really knows engines please feel free to chime in.

It was the hose, but no autozone, pep boys, kragen on gods green earth could give me the righ damn hose. So in the end, I took the fucker off and did a quick with super tight electrical tape, till she can get the car to a body shop later today.

Thanks for replying mattg.

Best to replace the hose first since you did see a hole, & then go from there. A hose is cheap. You could "test" it also. Drian the coolant, fill the system with water, let the heater run for a few minutes shut off & check for the leak.

I did try to replace the hose. All the ones i was told were for a 97 (found out) cherokee did not fit at all. So i will be returning those. None of the fucking Jeep parts departments in all of LA have the hose either. So I was left with the electrical quick fix. And after refilling the coolant, dilutting it, and running the engine for a few minutes I saw no sign of any other leaks. Hopefully, this can get her to a shop and they can do something from there. Out of my hands at this point.
