Question about unlocking alarm

I was driving to work this morning and i was listen to the radio some girl said they lock their key in the car and call home and her mom unlock the car over the phone does that really work???

if u have onstar they can unlock your doors if u get locked out

Actually a thread was brought about this very same subject a couple months ago. I think it actually can work, if I remember correctly.
