question about factory alarm mod

I'm eventually going to either get a brand new alarm, or just modify the stock alarm. My first question is, when is the killswitch in our alarm activated? Is the starter cutoff when the alarm is activated? When is it activated? Second, for all of you that modified your alarms to include a shock sensor, how did you do it, and what parts did you buy and from where? How hard was it? Did you get somebody to install it? Do places such as circuit city do those types of installs? I just feel that it would be a waste to get rid of the stock remote and all... And for those of you who completely replaced the stock alarm, what have your experiences been, and what alarm did you get? Any feedback/comments appreciated.

I believe the system arms with the ignition kill 30 seconds after you set it (with the beep)...you can add a shock sensor by setting it up in parallel to either the trunk or hood sensors....Do a search for good directions......its pretty easy, although....i think that Im going to do mine to the trunk (where the instructions use the hood)
