questino about Mb SLK
as some may or may not know..ive been on the forum a while looking and learning a shitload abotu cl(and cars in general)
i m still on for buying my cl..but i came across my first hesitation..and it was that i might want to get a slk 230 kompressor. 99/30thousand kilometers/42thousand (canadian)
and its a hardtop retractable
i just wanted to know how fast those cars run..if anyone knows?
like 0-60 or quarter mile..
also how easy would it be to get mods for a mb?
thanks in advance for anyhelp

Safety Car
Personally, I would be very careful when buying a used german car. I think that MB's and BMW's kick serious ass, but in terms of complaints, usually I only hear complaints. But, that does sound like a pretty cool deal though. But I think the 2.3 engine is kind of weak, though it probably wont feel weak if you drive with the top down through the mountains, as the sun sets in the distance

The SLK230 is a pretty car, and the 2.3 liter supercharged 4-cylinder is a reliable engine, so buying a 1999 won't prove to be problematic, it's too new. Just request all records and get it inspected by a mechanic before purchase.
A brief stint of SLK history. The SLK was originally created to do battle with the hot-selling BMW Z3, which debuted in 1996. Mercedes-Benz's SLK debuted in mid-1997 as an early 1998 model. It is powered by a 2.3 liter supercharged inline-4 cylinder engine that makes 184HP. Up until 2001, it was only offered with the smooth shifting 5-speed automatic transmission. Performance is relaxed, and so is the suspension tuning, but is considered more taut than the Audi TT Roadster. Acceleration from 0-60mph is about 8-seconds flat. In 2001, Mercedes-Benz introduced the SLK320, powered by the corporate 3.2 liter SOHC 215HP V-6 engine. This was available with a new 6-speed manual transmission, and the SLK230 was offered with a 5-speed. For 2002, the SLK receives an AMG variant with a supercharged 3.2 liter SOHC V-6 engine making a whopping 349HP, but only paired to an automatic. Acceleration for the SLK320 is about 6.8 seconds to 60mph, SLK32 AMG is around 4.5 seconds. The SLK is scheduled for a redesign in 2004.
Oh, and good luck.
