Production Turbo Kit for our CL

A close friend of mine is opening up a performance and fabrication shop so I threw the idea at him to construct a turbo kit for the CL. He says that if I can get at least 10 people seriously interested he will get to work on it. Now the shop isnt opening until late summer early fall but he wants a ballpark idea of how many people would be interested and want to buy a product like this.

SO whoever is interested lets start a list and I'll pass it along and hopefully you guys will be instrumental in creating a production turbo kit specifically for the 2001-2003 CL

How about just a quality made turbo manifold, down pipe, and intercooler/intercooler piping?

I don't want a full fledged kit just all the piping and a suitable intercooler that fits nicely to get everything going to turbo the car. I think this would help reduce cost.

Nope, no prefabbed stuff out there. You're gonna need to make it all custom.

I don't think your going to get 10 people that will actually pay for 1. There's no market for a turbo on a CLS.

Werd. You'll get a bunch of people saying "I'd totally buy one" but when it comes time to put down the money and buy one they'd back out or stop responding.

i will be interested but all depends on how much its gonna run.

If it goes over 1000, I rather make my own kit.

I just put out a thread for interested buyers, there is no responsibility for people buying it, my friend just wanted to see what type of market there would be for it...I should probably post up on the TL side as well considering its the same engine and all.

custom kit or a bought kit, your gonna go over $1k. im making my own kit and for the manifold, fmi piping, injectors, fuel pump, and some other small things, im past $1.7k. u still need to get the electronics and turbo, so its gonna be around 2.5-3k for a custom kit, the price would go up if u just bought a kit someone made bc of labor making it.

Yeah...it's just not possible to make a kit that cheap.

I'm find with paying for the labor involved with piecing everything together.

I'm not that mechanically inclined so IMO it's def. worth it!

Well I talked with my friend last night and he said it will be similar to a "stage 1" type of forced induction kit, made for low boost. It will probably use a Mitsubishi turbo from the GSX. The price he said will be around $800-900.

the turbo on the gsx is not big enough for our v6's. i mean it is, but not worth it bc your gonna see minimal gains. in the 800-900 price, does it include the electronics?

Im not too familiar with the different turbos and what size is needed to make noticeable gains for a 3.2L V6 but I dont think a "Stage 1" type kit makes big gains anyways from other companies do they?
the price is including everything needed for it to run, so yeah im assuming the electronics but ill get word from the guy before I say it defenetly is.

i dont know about that, a stand alone will cost u about $300+, wide band o2 will run $150+, then the cost of charge pipes, down pipes, manifold, intercooler, hot and cold side pipes, waste gate, bov. that already over $1500 easily. they sell a kit on ebay for no electronics are included.
