Powerflush or not? Power steering.

2001 CLS sat for a year. Hood was on, fenders were off. Cap was stolen (amoung other things) while parked at college auto repair school liars. PS fluid looked a bit dirty, but not gross. I did drain and refill the power steering fluid. Car steers fine. However it now leaks at what must be either
a. The hose right where it meets the "nipple" on the ps resevoir. Not the outside of the hose, but seems like the inside part of the hose. Maybe it got dried up. The small puddle sits under the resavoir but about two inches away. The bottom of the res has drops, but i think its travelling there by gravity.
or
b. The resevoir itself. Seems unlikely the plastic resavoir would crack.

I am going to replace both the intake and outake hoses on either side of the resavoir. Fluid now seems clean to naked eye.

However, would you say a power flush is flat manditory?

Is there a DIY for PS flush cause i can't find it.

Basically you take out the fluid in the tank (i used a turkey baster) and pull the return hose. Then you put that hose in a bottle and fill the PS tank with new fluid. Have someone start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock and that will flush the system. I used about 3 bottles of Honda/Acura fluid.

I did a flush, 3 bottles was not enough to do the flush properly.
I would get a big bottle of power steering fluid and a couple of the honda stuff

yea, i dont think i really finished the job either but i didnt want to spend more money on fluids i was gonna dump. I figure that as long as I got some of it out, then its better then nothing.

Probably gonna do it again in a few years anyways
