Pontiac unveils 2004 Grand Prix
Pontiac on Thursday unveiled the ninth generation of its Grand Prix for the 2004 model year at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. Pricing has not been released.
The automaker has eliminated the base model SE for 2004, and instead will offer a 200-hp V6-powered GT, and a 250-hp GTP and GTP with a competition group package.
The competition package includes 17-inch wheels, tuned suspension and Stabilitrak Plus, which helps keep the car stable in high-speed maneuvers and harsh conditions, and TAPshift (TAP stands for Touch Activated Power), which can switch the car from automatic transmission to manual with a Formula One-style paddle lever on the steering wheel.
Twin-styled dual exhaust outlets will be standard on all models, as well as larger 16-inch and 17-inch wheels and tires. The car is the same size as the model it replaces.
Inside, the cockpit will include larger analog gauges, and radio and air conditioning controls are now flush with the dash.

I actaully like the look of it. I just wonder if Pontiac will ever move away from their butt-nasty interior styling...

yeah, what the fuck?? the version of that car on the car show circuit had 280 hp and 280 torque....it was cool as hell, on the motor, it had a cover that said "280 X 2" it was nice...this production model looks VERY similar but they got rid of the slotted, cross drilled brakes and 19 inch wheels, there was also some carbon fiber on the back bumper and front bumper that this doesnt have...the interior of the car show model was a 2 + 2 seating arrangement like our car, really slick looking, futuristic interior, MUCH MUCH better than the currect pontiac styling, i wonder how much of that awesome interior made it into this production version.....man, i gotta say though, im dissapointed with the HP drop...they should have stuck with the 280....haha, oh well, either way, it will still smoke our cars!!!

thoro, the current gen GTP's do 14.5 stock on a regular basis....some even lower, and of course, some higher but 14.5 is the norm...thats better than a CL-S.
go to the following link and click on the left column where it says
"grand prix G-force"

Check out the dinky spoiler-thingy on the trunk ahahahahaha
That's pretty nasty looking. Ugh.
Looks all out-of-proportion or something.
And no 280/280? Shame.
I guess they don't want it competing with their 2door Grand Prix, the GTO.

Now in other news....I think the GTO is the hottest looking pontiac they have ever created.

it's funny you guys are talking about this. cause my girlfriend wanted to get a 02 or 03 (new) Grand Prix and I said you can do what you want since it your money.(she's been test driving various cars) I'd like for you to get an V-6 Accord but if your hung up on the Grand Prix at least wait till next fall when the new model hits the floors.so she decided for a couple reasons to hold up till next year to start shopping for a car
#1. what i said above
#2. the Honda dealer will deal more on 2nd year of the model compared to a new Accord model.
#3. she'll have more of a down payment so she'll have a little more pull when she goes to buy .
plus I'm still trying to convience her to get a GTP cause she just wants a GT.:P

HP rating
From my Knowledge the horsepower on the standard GTP is 250. However The G-Force GTP is still to have the 280x2. Check it out www.grandprix.net. I like your forum on the acuras. Looked at some before my GP. NIce nice cars. but just thought i would let u all know. Also Detroit is toying with a 4.0L v-8 for 2005 in the GTP not sure but word is 300-330 HP. Althought i would have to agree on one thing or 2,3 the bonneville look, no 2 door, and the rear end looks alike audi a lil bit on the new ones (tailites and trunk lid) ah well it will grow on me prob
Monkeymatos....What state you in that they get mad for 12%. i got 5 and no probs. but my state is more worried about paving the entire mother.

OK. I came here to talk about cars. So I'M gonna talk about cars. Your CL-S are pretty quick. Quicker than my GT. Dont have any numbers on my car cuz i dont have time to race it but i have fun with a lot a honda and eclipse running around town. But CL-S #'s to a GTP #'s are funny. On the the CL-S side any ways. Your talkin a bout a modded car running in the high or mid 13's. There are GTP's running low 12's. Yeah outta V6. Most V8's dont think about that. So if you want something to check out. here ya go. www.3800performance.com. Maybe there is some information there that co-corelates wiht your cars.??? But i have become more interested in your cars. If you want something non supercharged there is a grand prix running 14.50 outta GT?! pretty good i think.

yeah i agree with that... in fact what isnt expensive??
But 1 thing to consider is that the motors our cars run have just in the past 10 years started to be consider "high performers" so there are these new companys designing stuff and controllingthe market. where as a 5.0 mustang for 350 chevy there are a trillion of those out there. i guess when you have something new and different you just gotta spill some green

I think that the Grand Proix hgas looked the same for years.. the minor exterior changes don't do anything fir me!!! Now the GOAT (GTO) fir you who don't know looks hot, but I am sure it will be a disappointment!

the G-Force had kick ass 2 + 2 bucket seats, better than the CL-S seats if you ask me, they looked to be suede as well! also, the G-Force had a nice looking NAVI system, etc....this production version really skimped out on the good stuff of the G force, MOST IMPORTANTLY they skimped out on the HP and TOURQE!! why wet everyones whistle with 280 hp and then dissapoint with only 250..what a shame
