Poll: OBX Headers ANy fitment issues?
#5
I am hopefully getting the ones that Jrock sold to me installed tomorrow. I'll post afterwards regarding how they fit.
This is going to be my first mod after having the car for two years so hopefully I will also be posting about how much quicker the car feels

I envy you people that are now getting the OBX headers...to have that big grin develop on your face as you go WOT fresh after the install.
I haven't felt that way for a year and a half now...ever since I installed my CT headers.

Fit Like a glove.
and now that I've been driving on them for a week it seems that the cars ECU has adjusted better (even though I disconected the battery during install).
My impressions now:
Smoother climb in RPMs
faster to redline
slight low end gain
when driveing 65mph to 70 mph and stomping on it
the excelleration is awsome just keeps pulling and pulling.
one concern
at about 2500 rpm I get a resonounce sound for half a secound then goes away, any one else get this?

When connecting the a-pipe to the header flange, i did had to run a large philips-head screw driver through the holes to help align them up, Could have used a few more threads on the bolt too, starting that nut was a bitch. Other than the fit was good......

I had some substantial problems with mine... welll, not me personally, but the shop I took them to.
Anyway, everything under the hood fit PERFECTLY. the issue was connecting the bottom "downpipe" of the headers to my exhuast system (stock). The holes on the OBX downpipe would not line up with the stock exhaust. The guy at the shop had to widen out the holes on the exhaust to allow the bolts to line up properly. Not a huge deal, but it took them a while to get it to fit.
I'm sure I'm not explaining my problem clearly... but there were able to resolve it, and everything is cool now
My logo is in the back as well, not really visilbe when looking under the hood.

I just got my OBX headers installed this afternoon. The tech that did the work said he didn't have any problems with the fit but he did mention that they aren't as nicely built as the comptech's :P
Initial impressions so far are pretty good. I didn't notice an immediate difference, although 3rd gear seems to pull more like second now.
I do get the resonating as well... mine happens somewhere between 1900-2000RPM. Its not a constant sound, more like a quick pitch change between those RPM's then it goes away.
I did a few runs and drove around for like 20 minutes to see if I could notice any major differences. I was assuming that I would be able to break the tires almost everytime during the 1->2 shift with headers but so far that is not the case. I was able to break them a few times... but I was able to do that without the headers also.
I also should mention I don't have any other mods yet, not even a CAI. The CAI will be my next mod and I am pretty sure that might even help the headers out a little too.
Anyone else out there with just Headers (no CAI) have any input about breaking the tires in the 1->2 shift? How often does it happen for you?
BTW, I also have stock tires with about 30k miles but they have been rotated a couple times.
