Politcs forum...Goat airline miles you can donate?
Moderator: I know that this belongs in Politics (it already is), but please let this stand for a few days.
It is for our service men and women, and it's a good cause. I need the power of our 13,000 members to make a difference.
Currently, our service men and women are brought only to their most westerly destination, Baltimore, and are then told to pay their own way home and back for duty.
If you have excess air miles, you can donate them to their cause, but, right now, some, but not all major airlines are participating.

I'm out of HELL!!!!
It's very interesting to see Delta is a big partner in this after I believe they are the major airline that started the "lower airfare" rule for troops returning through BWI.
What was supposed to happen, and I can't find the URL right now, was that troops returning home for the R&R break through BWI would be charged the 14 day advance purchase fare (ie....$300 r/t to Los Angeles instead of the $2000+ if you buy just before flying). Most major airlines stepped up to the plate and also put that rule into effect.
I think it's a great idea to donate miles, however.

I can somehow manage to support the troops in whatever endeavour, especially during wartime and/or conditions such as now (i.e. post 9/11).
However, some of my friends have strongly argued against me and would respond by saying "why can't the soldier pay $200 for a rt ticket when he can spend $200 on a dozen hookers, alchohol and cigarettes."
Overall I support the military but it's difficult to justify it when everyone is not pitching in for all soldiers.
