I wasn't even aware the Accord V6 used the same tranny as the CL/TL. We have tons of tranny issues - just please keep that stuff to the Tranny Forum for sake of organization.

Sorry Jrock. I just wanted everyone here to comment on this post. We are gathering a bunch of Av6ers' support plus we need your's and TL support too. We're sick of people getting screwed when they're outside of warranty. Or even when in warranty the hassle they have to go through with these trannies. These were made where no flooring is allowed. Whats up with that. I know there are a lot of professionals on this board that have experience with successfully suing large companies or even working out some sort of deal with them. I'm try to look out with my fellow J block tranny people. We're all on the same boat but not all of us can move on to another car anytime soon. I am here looking for A-CL's support. Do we have your support guys?

Just out of curiousity what is the tranny forum doing? Are you guys creating an action plan? A deal with Honda to be able to replace them or for Honda to repair/upgrade at no cost? If you guys started something, I would really like to know to help.

Sure thing. Just need some back. I got my degree in Finance not in Law. I know there's some prosecutors here somewhere. Or are they in the Merc forum?

I'm at 26,500 right now on my tranny, with no tran service, and so far no problems. After reading some of the earlier posts here, I called my local Ack dealer and inquired about changing the fluid earlier to prevent any kind of problems... I was told to not bother, the manual says 30k, do it at the 30k service. The service mgr didn't debate what I told him about the complaints here, but in the same voice he said unless I experience a problem to not worry about it...

I have to tell you all, I am worried about it. Even though I have this vehicle on a lease, I was anticipating buying it and keeping it as a commuter vehicle and buying an S2000 or something similar as a second vehicle. I really don't know what to think now.

While married, we had a Dodge Caravan with one of those 3.0 engines where the tranny crapped out on them after 60k miles... they did nothing nor offered any solns to get around this, so at 60K it crapped out, on the Interstate, in traffic, moving quite fast (for a mini van).. that was scary enough, had the whole fam in there too.. but then I had to pay to rent a vehicle for the week, and since we were out of town, I had to drive three hours back to this dealer to pick up the van... suck!

I would feel better though, knowing there was a solution from Ack, that worked.. it doesn't seem like this is happening. So, while I can't complain, yet..., I'm behind you guys with whatever we need to do here.

I did my own exchange of tranny fluid at 15000m. and the ATF was turning towards a rust color. Recommend changing at least every 15000 and probably sooner next time for me. I don't drive nearly as hard as some people drive their CL-S! Watch the color of the fluid very closely. Change as soon as you can tell a difference in color!

We talked about reporting to NHTSA long ago when the tranny problem started to appear among us. I think a couple of us did file a report, but nothing has been done by NHTSA as far as I know. Probably not enough reports, and that tranny problem is not considered a top priority safety issue.

We should report this directly to Honda. With enough people complaining it will raise some eye brows.

Good luck. Hate to burst your bubble but that will not do anything. Even if every single CL-S, TL-S, & AV6'er that had a tranny fail showed up at their headquarters, it still wouldn't be more then 5-10% of total car's sold. Hence it's not a problem in Honda's eyes. How can Honda say yes there's a problem, when they are not sure what that problem is. Every dealer, or person that has been talked to about tranny issues, has a different cause, or spectulation of the cause. When the facts are no one knows, or Honda does know, but is not saying.(which then would really suck) You guys have to realize not alot of owners are on these boards. Look at total members on these boards. When our little boars are flooded with tranny complaints, it seems like alot, but it's really not. My CL-S with 12500 hard driven miles, in 7 months is fine, yet a friend with a TL-S with 7K miles in 9 months died?

I believe American Honda knows such problems exist through warranty claims. Whether to do anything about it is up to them.
