Played with a RS6 last night . . .

. . . and was pleasantly surprised that I beat him!!

I was coming back from the Spurs game with a friend and was crusing along when I pass this good looking A6. When I pass by the side, I noticed that it had pretty big fender flares, so I knew something wasn't right. I hang back and notice that is was an RS6!! It was a pretty good looking car!! Anyways, I have about 500 lbs in the car (me and my big friend), so I am thinking that I am going to get creamed, but, I wanted to see what those could do. So, while crusing along at about 60-70, I drop it into third and gun it a little to ghet his attention. He gets the drift and we wait for a nice open stretch.
A few minutes later, we are lined up. I take off and only see tailights. So, at about 110, I back off and he flies past. We line up again, and the same happens, I take off and he flies by me after I let off. Ok, so I am pretty amazed by now and start to get cocky. Third and final try. He gets the jump and I push it a little too much-hit the rev limiter as I go to shift. I still managed to catch up a little. But stay at his door.

Anyways, I was pleasently surprised. I thought they were better than that??!!

What do you drive again??? The RS6 is a beast... Unless it was just an A6 w/ glued-on fender flares and a RS6 sticker.

No, I was in my six speed TL. That is what I don't get, could it just be a molding kit and he stuck the badge on there?? I tried to take a pic but it was too dark and you can harldy even see his tailights.

I'd love to be 21 again and driving a Viper. Actually, I'd love to be me, now, and driving a Viper.

Yeah, I don't get it if you were in your TL...unless you're driving Allmotor's turbo setup or a Hope Systems SC.

Good kill nontheless!

That's what I was thinking-especially since I had a lot of weight in the car. But, none-the-less, it was a good looking car.

Maybe the RS6 was low on gas and didn't want to run too hard

That could be a very real possibility. I thought you were in your Viper which would of made sense. I never thought you were gonna say you were in the TL. Even w/ the S/C they're still no match for the RS6.

Oh well good runs anyway.

There is no way you beat a REAL RS6 in your TL if he was trying at all................Specs for 2002 RS6.........450HP, 415TQ, 1/4 in 12.8s...............the 2004 has 480HP.

Must have had some of that Viper left in your foot and shifting . . . :P

Good fun regardless and probably embarrased either way . . . I mean even if it was a hoser in a poser, he probably still thought the RS6 badge was worth enough HP to beat a TL.

We'll have to get some track times on that beastie of yours.

Yeah, it ave me a high knowing that I could pull him, no telling how crappy he felt!! hehehehe.

And yeah, I am more than down to go to the track!! If we wait a few months, I might have my newer toy to play with-think, 351 Windsor, maybe a stroker kit on it putting power to the ground through a tremec tranny, and one hell of a light body/frame!

There was no way this guy was racing you, couldnt drive, wrong gear, or he missed a shift or something! There is NO way a stock TL is gonna beat an RS6, let alone "play with one." I was SPANKED..I MEAN KILLED by an RS6 (I drive a 350z..unmodded at the time). I also was KILLED when I had my '01 CL (nicely modded) by the same RS6.

I had a RS6, and like everyone said, I think he wasn't racing or there is a possiblity that something was wrong with the RS6 (blown turbo hose? it happened to me before). The RS6s are faster off the line than high speed due to AWD but it would still a smoke a TL/CL.

It would be sad if someone actually went out of their way to get the rocker pannel mouldings done and front and rear bumper swap due to cost.

Doesn't the 2.7T and the 4.2 also have decent sized fender flares? Maybe you were mistaken.

...the cost just wouldn't add up...plus you would be pimped anytime a true RS6 posted you up...

Could have been a 4.2 A6, those have larger fenders.

See, when I passed by it the first time, I didn't think much of it, yeah it had larger fender flares than normal, and two oval pipes, but nothing extraordinary. So, I pulled back and then saw the RS6 badge. Like I said earlier, I tried to take pics,m but it was too dark to get anything.

there is no way you should have won. there 400hp awd twin turbo. i got to drive one at tischer audi in md when i used to do paint work for them. those cars are sick fast. now if you had steve's set up or allmotors or mattg's i might buy it. i call on it beeing a true rs6. besides its a $90k car , if it lost to a $32k car it would be a sad day for audi

Does anyone actually have a pic of a REAL one?? I am curious to see what it looks like to see if it actually was one or not. If it was, it had crappy tail-pipes.

Please note, I am not trying to say that I won a race, if the car was racing, against anything, be it an RS6 or A6 with stuff. I am merely interested in what it looks like to see if the one I ran into is a real one.

Unfortunately though, it wouldn't be the first time somebody tried to make their car look like something its not.

Well actually you did.

Just count it as a riced out A6 or an RS6 that was not racing because a TL is not even close to being in the same league.

Lip spoiler, rims, exhaust, badge, chrome mirrors and bodykit should distinguish it from a a6 4.2

the RS6 could of had a turbo leak and not really pushing it. AC's rs6 had a turbo problems but he was also modded up the wazoo

What I was trying to say is that it was not an "official" race-merely a fun filled highway stroll. And it was an RS6 from what I could tell with the above posted pics.

best thing to do is look for the chrom or aluminized side mirrors, except for the 2000 S4, most S-line cars have those mirrors.

Read the thread and the message clearly before you slam someone . . .

ATX is not saying he raced a RS6 . . . he started out saying he played with and beat something that looked like an RS6 and even conceeded that it probably was a poser. So take a chill.

BTW . . . a yellow RS6 parked right next me yesterday . . . I like yellow on certain cars, but this car just looked plain to me . . . wasn't impressed for the $$$ they cost . . . I could easily rip them a new one for a lot less.
