Question A-pipe Replacement

Greetings all...

I've been lurking here for a while absorbing the great info you folks have to share. Now I need a bit of specific information/advice. I tried a search but nothing came up.

I have an '01 CL that the mechanic says has an eraser size hole in the top of the A-pipe.

The shop says that the A-pipe runs about $350 or so and total to do the install would be a bit over $500+ not including replacing the 02 sensor.

I have some friends who have some mad welding skills and I was wondering if it would be worth it to drop the A-pipe assembly and have it welded or just bite the bullet and drop the money on the new assembly?

Is there a Honda crossover part that will work?

Thanks!!!

Mike

^x2. if your mechanic wants you to spend 850+ to fix that, you need a new mechanic

Thanks!!

My wallet and I appreciate the feedback!

Not $850... total bill out the door would have been about $500 (give or take for taxes).

Cheers!!
