Picking up my 03 cl type s next week. Tips?!

I'm going quite far to pick up my 03 cly type s. It has 46k original miles on it. I was wondering if there is anything i should look for other than the general stuff. I'm new to this board so i don't know the common issues with these cars. I'm pretty good when it comes to cars in general. A older lady drove the car and it's had one mechanic for the last 4 years. I think it should be a easy purchase, well at least i hope so. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

They were asking 13,900. I got it down to 11k which to some people may seem like a lot but all the ones i looked at were torn up.

It's not too bad with that milage.
Sometime things you WANT out weight the worth.
Are you going to start modifying your cl or are you going to keep it stock ?

Cool to have another mustang guy around

Is it a 6 speed CL-S? If so just do the normal run up through the gears to make sure it isnt slipping, try the brakes to make sure they arent badly warped, and try the cd changer and seat warmers, as they tend to stop working after awhile.

Otherwise thats a nice deal on a low mileage car, and just because its your DD doesnt mean you cant do mods.

I DD my C-S6 and have done springs/struts, 18's with perf tires, window tint, intake, and mild subwoofer system. It improved the handling a ton and makes for a much funner drive everyday.

I figured the 281 in my screen would've gave it away lol. It's an auto and the transmission has been replaced. I'm kind of done modding cars. I sold my mach a few weeks back and my 03 cobra is for sale as well. I'm going to pick up a c6z06 soon. I want to just lower it and do full exhaust, intake, and a tune.

good price for that car.

nothing u should worry about. If transmission starts acting up, then just put it in one gear using tiptronic.
make sure all the fluids and hoses look good before u drive off, u know that already.

WOW is all i can say. Car was a complete piece of shit. I can't believe how f**ked up this car was with 46k original miles. The whole roof had scratches like someone dragged a bunch of crap across it. There were scratches on the sides and the interior trim pieces were all jacked up. What a waste of my time. I ended up wasting a little over $500 bucks and i'm pissed. I found another local car with 57k original miles and this guy send good pics and this car has scratches all over too. WTF do people do with these cars?! I mean my 2001 honda accord with 170k is in better shape than these 2 cl's i looked at.

How are you out $500?

Anyways sorry to hear about the bad luck, but I would take the opportunity to find a clean 6 speed.

yea it's hard to find an immaculate interior...

that's why i didn't even look at a bunch of CL's the first one i found was mint and snatched it right there. BUT the trans did shit itself...

hopefully you'll grab urself a 6er... or just find someone who knows how to rebuild ur trans

I had to travel to look at the car. I don't want a 6 speed because all my cars have been manual cars and i will be daily driving the cl through traffic so i want an auto.

Yeah i get too excited and usually end up paying more than car is worth too. I'm not doing that now. If the person doesn't accept my offer I'm passing on it with the next car i try to get. There's a bunch of cl's out there and i just need to be patient.

I have driven my 6 speed in rush hour traffic M-F 9-5pm for the past 3 years, or ~ 50k miles. The pedal effort is very low, the shifter is VERY low effort and smooth, and I like being able to start in 2nd during the winter months.

Me personally, I would never buy an automatic CL-S, as the transmission issues have been well documented, and the 6 speed is basically bullet-proff unless you drive like a madman. I am still on the stock clutch with 140k miles.

Makes me miss my old Cobra. Over 700HP and too much fun. I need to start looking into another weekend car and get a deal now that winter is coming. Should have just kept the Cobra. Keep looking at a M3 but the lack of a car payment is nice.
