PIAA 19224 melting lenses
Well after 6 months of these bulbs being in my fog lenses I noticed yesterday when looking at the tranny under the car to find the hoses for the tranny cooler, I noticed my PIAA bulbs were like pealing on the top of the bulb. Like a egg hatching. Both bulbs are identical. And when I looked above it, the lense itself is starting to be burnt.
Damn so now I gotta retire these bulbs!!!!
Any other bulbs that won't do this I can install in my lenses?
Thanks.

Burning Lenses!!
After some searching it doesn't seem that there is an alternative, say maybe 10W or so. Am I correct that there is only the 18W PIAA/Polargs, or the 5W. The 19169s, or the 19172s, vs. the 19224. I like the 19224s, I have seen the pics on another thread, but I am worried about the lenses melting.
Any advice?

Let's get some more takes, since I'm getting ready to put these in tomorrow! This forum convinced me they were OK, now you tell me they're not??
Let's hear from some others using them. Perhaps these were scratched at install, then ran hot.

I have the PIAA 19173.
However, they are ion yellow and not blue.
But they are only 5 watts and shine nicely without any worry of burning my housing.
I acutally prefer the ion yellow, kind of gives it that Lexus light combo that I like personally, since it's hard to find bulbs that matchour HIDs really well.

I converted my foglights to an HID kit using a TechOne system. It cost 290 shipped. Direct plug & play. They are really bright, but not too bright to a point of bothering others at night. I love it.

5 watt piaa
i picked up the 5watt piaa bulb over the weekend. i am not to thrilled as it doesnt exactly match my headlight....it looks a lot better than stock..but if it stops the burning and melting. i'll run with it.

Not Asian
Tons and tons of people on this board have put in PIAA 19224s or the Polarg M6s and have not had a problem with the housing.
I have had PIAA 19224s for a year now and no problems at all.

Do you have pictures with your yellow bulbs in? Could you post them. I too like the Lexus light combo look.
Thx.

I think everyone that has melting issues leaves their lights on all the time.

Alright, so turns out I have either the worst camara, or the worst camara skills in the world cuz these are pretty poor, but all I can say is, if you like the Lexus look, get these. They look much better in person.

I'm not really sure what your question is....but if you are asking whether or not these yellow road lamps are bright...the answer is, they are bright enough to look good, but offer no extra illumination while driving. I would venture to guess that they offer about as much illumination as my stock turn signals. And they are yellow, not the amber/orange like the turn signals mentioned above.
Hope this helps...
