Petition to ACURA

I am sure I am not the only one who scratced stock rims on CL-S because they are sticking out. I've had scraches from hitting pot holes, carwashes, and various other dents in the road. I think everyone will have to agree that even though the rims look semi-good the design is stupid.

So my proposal is to petition acura to recall those rims, because they will get scratched if you live in an area where there are a lot of pot holes(i.e. USA ), and to replace them with different ones!

Anyone else thinks its a good idea?

P.S. All those people who are going to recommend buying different rims: I would but I think the price of these wheels was included in the car so we kind of payed for them!

I will join in on the petition..... 3 out 4 of my rims are scratched.

On my old car, which i had for 5 years, none of the rims had a single scratch on them.

I'd rather see a recall on the lousy (IMHO) paint job. My hood has to have over 20 nicks.

Ok here is another suggestion. Everyone put what they think acura should recall, and whether you agree about the wheels.

CLPower it has nothing to do with the way I drive. I don't know about your city but in NYC if you try to avoid one pothole you'll hit another one, and as soon as you hit a pothole you rims are sporting another scratch.

i don't see a pot whole being your problem unless it's a good 5 inches deep. I've been riding on 18's for 2 years w/ a 40 series tire, i work in an industrial district w/ many pot holes and have thus yet scratched a rim.

1.) Paint
2.) Rims

There wasa paint recall on my 1989 Camaro. The whole car was repainted for me by the dealer at no charge!!! It can be done!

The damn leather on the seats cracking... I have had leather shoes last longer.
Good Luck with a rim recall. If they didn't do it with the sunroof I don't see it happening with the rims. With a tilt down mirror they are sure to blame the driver for any scratched rim.

I hate to sound like a "negative" influence. But I think the chance of Acura fixing or helping you with the wheels is slim and none.

1. They will tell you (I bet) to be careful about parking. (Hey, I lost a wheel from some idiot valet parking)

2. I think they lurk here and get feedback, they did put on a 6.5" rim on the TL -- yes/no?

When I had the 235/45s on the stock rims, there was just enough sidewall protector and additional width to just protect the wheel from minor grazes. With the new wheels, I have avoided a sure double OEM wheel replacement.

So, I hear what your saying, but CLPower has a point.

They only put a single clear coat on the CLS. But the MDX got enough clear coats to start a glass factory.

(As if we aren't going to get pelted with debris while flying down the road in a 260hp car)

if you try, good luck (Maybe, you can get them to pay me for my scratched wheel that got sold on E-BAY by one of the mechanics and the cost of the new one)

how do you drive, w/ no springs? I can see driving w/o headers, sways, and an intake (must sound sweet); but i don't recommend it. But no springs, thats amazing!!!!

Recalls are only done, when lives are at danger or risk of injury ! Poor paint, poor design doesn't cut the mustard !

Scratched rims are almost always a driver's fault. These rims don't scratch by themselves and they don't scratch with normal driving.

They scratch when you hit something with them, just like your bumper will dent if you hit a fire plug. I have 3 out of 4 scratched rims and they all occured when I hit a curb, i.e. my driving.

Just my opinion.

C'mon. It's Ken responding. I expect nothing less than "it's your own fault, stupid" from Ken - he's ruthless!

I think they designed the roads to thin in my town and that is why I hit the curb outside the post office....OR, the acura salesman did not properly train me to accurately judge the width of the car...OR...gimme a minute here....
