i had a k&n and switched to the comptech. the k&n made a very high bitch buzz and you could hear it from up stairs in my house when i pulled up. the icebox is a deeper sound, very nice when revving i'd say

I wouldn't personally make the switch. I've driven and been in CL's with both and I really like the sound of a CAI better than the Icebox.. It may make a few more HP, but the difference isn't huge.
The icebox is nice, but it sounded very tame, pretty close to stock IMO. When I got my intake on my CL, I really only cared about the better sound, as I didn't feel any difference in power.

CAI = Louder & Hissing noises & sucking up water
Icebox = A few more HP & stock like sound unless you get in VTEC.
Since you already have the CAI it wouldn't be smart to dump money into a new intake just to pick up a few HP.

I have an Icebox, and it sounds stock until you get into VTEC, then it roars!! It does not sounds as "throaty" as a CAI throughout the RPM band, a bit more subtle.
It's fair to say that most people prob. don't even know I have an Icebox until WOT. I do alot of city driving, and it's nice not having the sound of an open CAI at 3000 rpm. Hope that helps!

So SORRY to hear about your accident, Darrin. Since your AEM CAI is broken, maybe the Icebox is in your future?!?

Well..
The one deciding factor for me, was that the Comptech Icebox looks much, much more stock than the AEM (+ the fact that I am worried less about hydrolock in case my car decides to ever take a swim ).
Honestly I like the Comptech better than the AEM, and feel that the cost was worth making the switch for me. The only problem (that I didn't find out until after the fact) was about the little 'ram air' air horn on the bottom of the icebox which initially would not stay on. I cranked the collar a little more and have not had an issue since.
Has anyone noticed that the Icebox still makes that little 'swoosh' when you shut down the car? Is this normal?
