Parking habits (Survey)

In the parking lot of our garage, there are parking spots (along the ramp) such that when you park the driver side is lower than the passenger side (or vice versa)
Well, I had parked on the ramp where the drivers side is lower than the passengers side. I got out of the car and walked into work, and a light went off in my head - "If someone parks to my right, and opens the drivers door slightly, and lets go, it's going to swing down and hit my car".
I turned around and went back and needless to say someone had already parked there, and their door was TOUCHING my door. I have her the evil eye and stared at that spot like a hawk. I didn't see a ding so I let her off. Needless to say when I was wiping down the car the next day I saw a very tiny ding. I'm not going to be so nice next time!!!

Looks like lots of stuff has already been very well covered...
If anyone ever is faced with a tough choice between "tight" parking spaces, I would recommend the following:
1. If the car parked next to you has steel door guards, forget about parking there (unless it is an emergency or a necessity). Your are parked to a black-belt ninja ding-master!
2. See #1 -- if the steel door guard is on an older car (or SUV) AND the door guard has tons of little specs of colored paint and dings in it, forget about your parking there. Just park in a temp zone and take the ticket -- it will cost you less in the end (well, I haven't checked all towns in the USA out).
3. If car has a door edge with little or no paint left on it, you have found a ding-master-in-training (just hasn’t gotten the steel strip and black belt yet). Keep looking for another parking place.
Bottom line -- check the edge of the door if you have not been given the gift of prophecy...

Actually, i'm already at august, soon to be caught up in about a week or so. :P
However, I did skip all audio posts (hoping they're in the audio forum) and all V1 posts.
I don't know if I'm going to go through the audio forum because to be honest I don't know beans about audio systems.

It doesn’t matter what option I pick. I work at UPS. We have like 300-400 part timers come in to load and unload packages. 99% of them don’t give to fucks about my car. I try to park in a secure spot or by other management personnel, but we are way out numbered.

i park at the very end of the parking lot. for example, at a wal-mart i will park somewhere at the end. i will take up 2 spots and will not choose the 2 that are at the end of the row. b/c when those assh-les round the corner they will prob clip the car. i always park that way. i do not mind walking knowing that my car is safer. but there are usually no cameras at the far and of the lot to see if anyone has ever done anything

I'll go out of my way to find an end spot, and park really close to the end. If its crowded I will look for a spot between two people decently parked.

i lived in a neighbor hood middle to lower middle class, we were renting, and i had a frontier had it 1 yr and it was hit 6 times in front of my house.
twice they brushed up against the plastic fender flares left side front and rear and deeply scratched em.
and there were numerous scratches on the rear bumper from other cars.
one morning about 2 am i found my neighbors trashed integra under my truck not much damage to my truck but dented his hood
i could not buy another car until i moved

i go to reading acura. i live in williamsport. wb would be closer though..
the only reason i don't buy in wb-scranton is the nissan dealership near the steamtown mall. i can't remember what their name is. my 1st car loan ever i bought a 97 maxima for 12k about 3 yrs ago. it was my 1st loan so interest was high, but i was going to pay it off in a year interest was 16.9. yeah i know its high no credit, but 1 year with interest like that i was ok
the sour part of the deal was them selling me extended warranty for like 1400$. they said it was required to get financing. i looked it over and asked if i can change my mind, they said yes. told me it was 2 yr 100000 mile warranty. INEVER BUY WARRANTY EXTENTIONS. so i went home and called the co it was written by and the say it was 1 yr and 12,000 mile!!!
what an asshole dealership
so i called the next day and cancelled it and demanded my money back from it. after a bit o hassle i got it taken care of.
i traded the car 3 months later for an 01 maxima gle merlot mmmmmmm
so that deterred me from going back to wb unfortunatly

well all dealers are not bad, motorworld tries really hard to take care of its customers, so if you change your mind, just drive up and look around

I take 2 spaces EVERYWHERE I go.. but.. I also never park in near anything, nor would I take 2 spaces if the lot was close to full, which is why nobody's ever messed with my CL-S I suppose. I see people double park up close and it pisses me off too. I wouldn't do it, but I can see why people would key a car. IMO, if you park far away, hell, take 3 spaces.. Why not. I mean, if they're never going to fill the lot who cares..
I've had my '03 CL-S for 15 months now, and I've parked in 1 space only 2 times. Once just the other day at WalMart. I was about to park illegally in some no-parking zone b/c of all the other cars around, but I found a WIDE spot, the minivan on 1 side, or the 4dr sedan on the other couldn't hit my car with their doors if they tried, plus I was gonna be in and out.
Never 1 ding/scratch since day 1.
BTW, 4 guys or not, I'd fuck some folks up if they messed with my car, intentionally or not.

I always try and pick out a nice car to park next to. I even like to park next to Ricers because even they take some pride in what they drive. I usually look for cars that have some sort of custom work, even if it is just wheels. Oh an clean.
Think about it. Sometimes a luxury car is driven by a rich spoiled person, who if it gets scratched, they can get a new one.
If not I try for a end spot.
If not I park in between 2 cars. This way they only way your can get hit is if they leave. So if you are gonna be quick you are usually ok. But its gotta be a wide spot.
I found parking where no one is dangerouse. Because some times people park next to you or your car attracts the rolling shopping cart.

Well, you just do like my wife does with her 98 civic. If some a$$hole parks too close to her and dings her door, she creases their's. Just remember guys, typically, the car doing the damage, doesn't get damaged. At least when it comes to door dings.:pfawk:
