Parking the CLS for 4 months. What do I do?

well guys, i'm parking my baby until early May. I move to school on Monday and taking the Accord with me. For now my car is under the patio. I heard it's bad to leave a car out of commission for so long. I gotta try to convince my brother to get his ITR out of the garage so i can park it there. That'll be tough though. Until then it'll be outside What do i do to prepare the car for long term storage? Anything special?
For now, my baby is sleeping with 16,931 miles on the odo. Damn I'm gonna miss VTECH!

I think you should disconnect the battery if you are leaving if for such a long time? Also make sure that there isn't a full tank of gas? Not sure if this stuff is necessary anymore, I heard of these things being done when people leave their cars for a while. Not sure why though...

for 2 months and over:

yeah, disconnect the battery to prevent any slow drains.

full tank to prevent condensation.

take pressure off tires by jacking up all 4 corners with something (milk crates probably won't work considering i broke one standing on it (i'm 160lbs).

if inside, keep windows opened slightly.
make sure the interior is dry.

it's also recommmended to change the oil and filter.

that's all i can think of right now.

in the car manual, there is a detailed section for car storage...

i also suggest get a car cover to cloth it up just in case something might fall or scratch it...

Good advice above. Also before you disconnect the juice make sure you have your Navi code written and saved somewhere.

YuppieCL..............think you could persuade your brother to start it once every two-four weeks and engage the air conditioning to keep the seals moist??

4 months? increase your tire pressure to 60 psi. this will help to prevent weak spots on the tire because the weight of the car will be on the same tire spot for 4 entire months.

I would add some fuel stabilizer also to that list (on a full tank as above). Trickle charger for the battery also?

Hold it. Are you sure that maybe your brother or your mom won't be slappin that SS all over Kennedy Blvd or opening her up on Rte 80? I think maybe you won't even need to do anything except leave the registration with them, if you haven't already.

And how on earth did you rack up that many miles?!

I'd definitely store it if I had that many miles....

I live just a l'il north of you. You could leave it with me and I could baby sit it along side of my black CL-S! If you can get your hands on a DelTran Battery Tender for about $60, do it. It will NOT overcharge your battery.
