Painting: What color?
Hi to everyone, what a site, I had no idea. Discovered you last weekend and have spent hours going over everything. Finally got the go ahead that I was accepted, whew.
Buying a 01 CL-S with 40,000km (24,000 miles) and giving it to the paint shop immediatly. It is the "Pinp Daddy Gold" (I think I read that somewhere) LOL, and looks quite good but I want to get it painted right away, otherwise I may get used to the color and never do it.
I'm looking at painting it 02 GMC Envoy Fire Red. Opinions. Other Suggestions.
I've had a couple of Acura's over the last 11 years. Started with a 93 Vigor and put about 200,000km on it before I bought my 99 3.2TL which I'm going to keep as my wife's car and our winter car. Living in BC, Canada it gets really beat up in the winter with the gravel they put on the highways.
Regard,
John

I would suggest an OEM color that way it is cheaper to do repairs.
Stay away from black too, its a bitch to keep clean and shows swirl marks. I've always been a fan of the BMW M3 blue.

I'd stay with the Pimp Gold for a while and see if it grows on you. Very unique and distinctive color IMO, and rare too. You can always repaint later, but repainting always devalues a car and to do it right costs thousands. Also, if you don't like the color then why buy it. There are lots of 01 CLs on the market. I saw a gold one (rare) in my town recently and thought it looked kinda good. The one car that conservative Honda took a little flair with, it was their way of introducing the new distinctive CLS. Good luck.

Man, to do this correctly would cost a friggin fortune! You would have to pull the engine and trans, all the plumbing and wiring harnesses, the wheel wells, the interior door panels...the list is endless.
But if you don't do it correctly, you will render your car practically worthless. Imagine what people would think on a white car exterior when they pop the hood and find out it is gold down there. I could tell you the first words out of their mouths.
"UH-OH!"
Plus you gotta get in the door jambs (that would have to be degreased. amoung other things).
You could REALLY regret this! You will need the budget of a small foreign country to do this right. And I would sure as hell stick to the stock Acura colors.
