Our CLS is pretty good from a roll
A few weeks ago I was racing my friend who has a 1987 Mustang LX 5.0. At first we were just messing around, then we deided to hit it. We started when I was at about 4000 RPM's in 2nd and went to about 85 MPH. I was actually pulling on him, although just barely. He has over 100,000 miles with a 65MM throttle body and some pulleys and exhaust. He had one more person in the car than me. But, my actuator was not working. Not too bad I guess. But if it were from a standstill , he'd kill me. At the track, at about 6000 feet above sea level, he does about a 15.2, and I did a 16.5 (That was with about 3000 miles on my engine, and sub and amps and spare tire in the car). Our cars are pretty fast, but too bad we don't have the low end torque like they do. I would say a 6 speed would probably be a lot closer to it.

i think the guy explained himself pretty good. the 6000 ft elevation is simply killing their times. less air, ie take a cruddy old air filter versus a clean CAI and when's it faster. just multiply that effect and you have elevation. probably a 14 sec mustang and a low 15 cls there, coming down to sea level.
