Option Pulley final questions
so yes i finally got around to getting em. Im about to order the Option pulley but before I do, aside from the one pulley how many belts do i need. In other post i see GATES K060441 GATES K040425 but why do i need two or are those the same just different part numbers. Also i see some obx overdrive with two pulleys whats the difference i kno the underdrive pulleys are better for our cars so thanks in advance.
i kno there was a forum that had all this info but i cant find it and i was involved in it lol, was it deleted?

I think the thread I made fell onto the second page.
I'm also going to be putting in a new pulley soon. I was also told that the underdrive crank pulley is the only one you really need, the others aren't 100% necessary.

buddy it was my second MOD and I did it when everyone was skeptical... EVEN ME... and it turned out amazing. And for the PRICE
you literally need to convince people that the pulley won't fall apart.. that's where I come in.
And dude. u'll thank me for convincing you, and all the rest of YA that were SKEPTICAL.

I also have the OPtion Pulley and I did not really notice a gain. It is 1/5 the weight of the original pulley so it has to spin faster there for rev's faster. I have noticed my power steering is easier to turn and have noticed my A/C cranks more!

Wait, if it's underdriving those then how are they improving? The Option pulley underdrives power steering and the alternator, right?

presonally i would prefer a little less power steering assist (stiffer wheel), and the alternater still charges the battery at idle with my 500w sub
so no problem for me
btw: it would also the spin the a/c compresser slower, but my a/c still works just fine, (gotta wait till the 100F degree days to really test out though)(just make sure to park in some shade instead, which will also save your interior from the sun)

yea man think about the PHYSICS
Ur power steering need the most support when ur not moving on a dry steer. Ur water pump cools the motor, ur alt makes power
Underdriving them makes them all work LESS... IE WORSE
by doing so (spinning less) you save energy lost through the EXTRA spinning you NO LONGER WILL DO.
So u spin ur shit less, u get more HP freed up from the motor because it's not spinning all that shit that many more times.
it's like a bike sprocket. the smaller the gear on the front the slower you go.
SO the smaller the crank pulley.
THE SLOWER THEY GO,
THE FASTER THE MOTOR CAN SPIN (cause there is less internal DRAG)
AND THE LIGHTWEIGHT MAKES FOR LESS INTERNAL INERTIA
those 2 thing will get u that 10 hp
Don't mean to b a dick. But i don't understand how so many people cannot understand the physics, logic or gains from this mod.
I thought we all know how it'd work
And if you cannot feel this mod, then you're CAI is a placebo because it don't make the same amount of power that this pulley does. and the pulley makes gain on the entire Power band/ CAI doesn't.
Cause when i added the CAI it was top end gain, and a nice sound, when i added the pulley it was like... wow this car actually picks up quicker all around.
It's technically harder to feel the gain since it's not a sparatic gain of power which is easy to feel.
Fuck let's get a dyno and then tell me i'm full of shit. Cause I'd like to bet the pulley is more of a gain. :-)
And I'm not being bias, my pulley was 30$ my intake was $300. if i were bias, i'd say the intake is better cause i spent more and it made my car sound bad ass, and it pulls top end harder.
but I say the $30 i spent was better than the 300.

and think of a light weight pulley as a light weight flywheel, and just not as big and on the other end of the crankshaft, just a whole lot easier to install, if you can get the crank bolt off

like what i said look up how to change you drive belts, then before you put on the new belts you change out the pulley, (which your friend will proably have to undo the bolt for you, then retighten it) otherthen that the pulley should slid right off and then right back on

if ur friend is a mechanic... give him the pulley and the proper belts and he can't fuck it up. It should B impossible. lol
He just BETTER have a 1000ft/lbs Impact or you guys will be using the starter method. and be careful when tightening the upper tensioner.

and learn you will, by examining what is in front of you and attempting the obvious. and if it's not obvious your mechanic buddy will be able to point it right out, assuming he in fact is a mechanic.
But honestly dude if ur mechanically inclined urself at ALL, and have even the slightest bit of confidence in urself, there's no way this is a big procedure.
Just make sure u got that 1000 pounder you're gonna need it. or it'll take u for ever

yea rajca you got balls bro... that's scare me for the amount of $ i've put into my baby.
you got a insane deal on urs so you can afford a problem if you were to create one using that method. I asked my mechanics about the starter method, and they all looked at me like, ur fucked LOL.
madmuzik that thing is like the hardest bolt u'll ever need to get off.
I WAS going to buy a 1000lb impact with me and a buddy, but after weighing the costs and time and blah blah... fuck I just brought it to the dealership and they put it on for me.
Cost 150 with tax, BUT it was still way cheaper than getting my own gun, and spending my own time. etc.
I know 150 is rape show... but i was desperate for that HP and it was friday and I wanted to feel the power that night!!!! and oh baby, I did... i def did

Whats up with RDX owners?
iTrader: (9)
It will sound like you broke something. Dont worry, you didnt. Just make sure the end of the breaker is pointing towards the front of the car like so:

and yeah the flicking of the engine with a breaker bar is kinda a crude way of doing it, but it works
luckily on mine when the previous owner had me put it on, i was able to get it with a 3/4 inch impact so i did not need a breaker bar
