Lightly modded GTP (97+)
Any G35 - stock
Any 350Z - stock
Mustang GT's - stock'ish
Accord Coupe V6 6 speed

All would be a pretty good race if I can drive worth a damn

In my Mustang I like to play with other V8/rwd cars, ie. Camaro's, Mustangs, and even the occasional import.

are some of those guys illiterate or just ignorant? I mean, no one starts anything here just posting what cars we would like to run (whether because we think its a good race or to see a superior car go all out on us) and they have to respond like this:

L67cooled: "Im with you. man these guys must be stupid"
Smokeya: "I guess they enjoy losing LOL...I wish I lived in one of those states so i could have some rice to snack on"

On the other hand widerGTP and ignorantprodigy seem down to earth, as do some of the others. Oh well, thats life I guess.

Having 17,958 people registered at clubgp, you'd have to expect plenty of tools. There are many good people there as well. The same can be said for this board. Usually the people who have put in sweat, blood, work and money into their cars to make them perform are the cool ones. It tends to induce an apprieciation of hard work and the people who do it, regardless of what car they drive. The only thing I can control is how I represent myself.

This was a good topic and the cars are a good match up stock to stock & modified GTPs to F/I CLSs. Let's hope some good races come out of this.

I'd offer to run you but I saw your numbers (I think I remember a 13.5). I go through your neck of the woods on my way to NYC often (off 95 right?).

Actually, best ET 13.2 best trap 106.5mph best 60' 2.0. I think the car has a little more in it. I have it tuned better now since my last time racing at the track. In street trim I guess 13.5 is close.

I95 does indeed runs through CT.

I'd like to run a modded CLT/TLS.
Cars I haven't run but would like to

350Z
Boxster S
Turbo Neon
96-01 SVT Mustang(I ran a 96 at the track and lostby .1, I need a rematch!!)
Any Ferrari(I'd beat teh older ones, and get killed by the newer ones)
Maurader
300C Hemi

I made a post that if any CLS or TLS in S. Fl want to play at Moroso, it would be fun.

Wider, I just got my mini-afc 2.0.

Sweet. Long time no see.
Do you plan on using the advanced mode?
If so, when adjusting your LTFTs at idle, make sure you don't go too low. I know plenty of people who have had transmission issues when doing so. The Computer reads MAF freq, engine load ( throttle position/ engine rpms ) and vehicle speed to calculate shift pressure. Skewing the frequency too low won't allow the correct pressure and you could start getting shuddering. As long as your car isn't trying to stall and the LTFTs are extreme negative numbers, don't be too concerned with the idle #s (1k-3k). What's more important is your cruising (4k-7k) LTFTs. Try to get those as close to zero as possible. The computer will lock in at it's last LTFT when flooring it (Power Enrichment mode). Do it in steps from idle, then cruising and lastly WOT.

You probably have seen this already but it's a good little guideline for tuning. It's a pdf file for the LS1 throttle body install. The tuning tips are at the end of it.

There are only a few of us that ever make it to the track. Let me know if and when you go. I might go next Friday if not I might wait till the fall when it gets cooler.

Thanks for the tip Wider. I plan on using the advanced mod, but will probably only adjust the maf freq in the WOT range, what is that, 9-11K? I just want to first use the afc to help quench a little KR, not necessarily tuning for max power. Just want to be able to race safely on the 3.25.

scalbert.....how far are you from Orlando...I might be able to meet you up that way, or if there is a track half way between us. It would be the battle of the FI 6s!!! Would be great to finally meet you.

C'mon, forget the RX, talk the wify into coming down in the CLS!!!

The mini-afc will let you adjust 9-13k. IIRC the stock MAF has a ceiling of 11.5k.

Once again good luck.

Orlando is at least six hours with me driving alone; I'm on the northwest side of Atlanta. It would be great to meet up but we are definitely a ways apart. If I ever drive down there on business though I will plan ahead. But most of the time I fly when I am going alone as Airtran hits most of the places I need to go.

heheh, There is no way we could not take the RX. With my wife and our twin daughter we hardly have enough room in the Lexus :o

I'd be down for a friendly race with someone in the Phoenix/Tucson area, but I'm not here for a grudge match or pissing contest. I was about 4 hours from buying a '01 CL-S when the cops called at 3am and said they'd found my Maxima. It'd been stolen, and the 3 week recovery deadline imposed by my insurance co. was up that morning, and that's when I would've called. Already had plans and a ride to pick up the CL-S that afternoon. Oh well, I suppose everything happens for one reason or another.

Thats why you should sell the CL and buy a Regal. I can fit my wife and my twin boys with a ton of kids crap and still be comfy. LOL I forgot you had twins too. How old? Mine will be 4 in Oct.

And back on subject, I would also love to run a SRT4, 300C, and a 240SX with SR20DET(Gregshin!!!).

10 months and getting older too quickly.

So you survived. JK, as it has been wonderfully easy as of the last couple of months. The first few months though...

I won't consider it surviving until they are moved out of the house. 10 months. ahhh, I have no recollection of those days, but the videos prove they happened. The first year was a complete blur. I did al the nighttime feedings/changings....it was too much for the wifey to do after taking care of them all day long.

I won't say it gets easier, it just gets different. I'll have to start a kid rearing horror story thread or something in AAG, though I never go there. lol I have some funny ones.

I dunno now. My 4th is still pretty aggressive and I did just turn the dyno rollers to 369 WHP.

In fact, all of my gears are shorter than the Z06. Now below 60 MPH I can't get traction negating that gearing. But after that it would be interesting considering I am making more power and have better gearing, not to mention can hold a gear longer.

I dunno how much the C32 weighs, I suspect in the 3500 range

I was just messing with him though as he is a former CL-S owner.

Doesn't the CLS wiegh more than a Z06? The Z's also have a 3.47 final drive and are a helluva lot more aero than the Acura. PLUS, stock the Z06 can do 177mph... My car will make 360++ at the dyno and a z06 (stock?) walked away from me on the hwy.. (to 150+)...

We need to get to the track and see what that 370whp can do!

a stock cl-s 6mt would probably do 160 w/o the speed limiter, and scalbert's car has 150 more whp.

it might be a good race, from a roll.

Yes, a few hundred pounds more and the Z06 has a better CD value; which overly negates the power advantage. The gearing is the only aspect that is to my advantage.

Don't get me wrong, I still think I would lose. It would like to know how close it is hence this hypothetical thread.

But let’s look at the actual gearing numbers:

Code:
Gear	6M Overall	Z06 Overall
1	12.924 10.157
2	8.143 7.079
3	5.586 4.890
4	4.108 3.420
5	3.207 2.873
6	2.534 1.915

The CL-S6 has a clear gearing advantage. In 3rd gear, where this imaginary race would begin, there is a 14% gearing advantage. At those speeds weight becomes less of an issue and is beginning to be offset by drag. So there is really no cumulative affect here. That 14% gearing advantage along with a little more power at the higher revs should equate to a close match.

However, once I reach the end of 3rd and grab 4th some ground would be lost until the Z06 hits 4th. At which point I have a 20% gearing advantage but that extra aero drag minimizes this.

Again, this is just a hypothetical wish list as we would like to see the outcome. This is not a proclamation of victory.

Anyway, I do plan on heading up to Commerce here soon and welcome you to come. One of our sales guys is trying to get his GN running well along with me trying to figure out how to get traction. Once finished, next week or two, we'll be heading up to the track.

I'd like to run a full bolt on CLS. I think the only member of the board I have ran is zootking and he beat me back when all I had was an intake. Now I think it would be a little closer Auto vs 6 speed Torrey you out there?

I have a Silver Maxima 6 for you to run and all it has is a few bolt ons and a super cold air intake
