Oil change problem ??? Help

OK, empted old oil , put on new fillter, added new oil, went back under car to give the filter another check make sure no leaks, and then notice a gasket looped around a nut just under where the filter screws in , thought maybe it fell off old filter, but that was intacked, I used a Mobile one filter for the new filter there is no way it could have fell off the new filter? Is this a gasket from an old filter? Just want to make sure there should'nt be any additional gaskets other then the one on the filter?? Any theorys of where this extra gasket came from would be appreciated....

You're fine, it's the old gasket.

Good you found it prior to startup....I usually start in order to check seal, and once that happened on my wives explorer.....~3qts of 10W-30 on the floor of the garage
