OBX Header owners!!! CLICK!

everyone bash's OBX headers left and right saying problems this problems that. So far i've only read about a handfull or less problems.

How many of you have had any problems w/ their headers? How many haven't?

it's also gonna be interesting to see how many comptech owners post under OBX problems

one more thing before the comptech crew jumps in. No one is saying that comptechs quailty is not superb

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE HAD PROBLEMS, POST THEM IN THIS THREAD OTHERWISE YOUR VOTE WILL NOT BE VALID AND WILL BE DELETED
this is to weed out the haters

this is true, hence why I added it, we are more concerned w/ concrete things like fitment, falling apart etc. The majority of exhausts out there on the market will give you resonance also. But that's not the type of thing we are looking for.

I know someone at my work got a TL with OBX header, and it has the problmes. He doesn't spend enough time on forum of any kind, so I voted for him. Does it count? If not, go ahead and delete it. He stopped driving to lunchs because of it. :o Now I always have to drive.

just the seat belt pads and sticker on the front windshield.

I don't have them, hence I didn't vote. I've just noticed a hating trend about how they are crap, etc w/ no concrete evidence other then 4-5 problems out of the bunch. I'm looking for a failure rate Esp. when I've seen many products come in and out that need work done that are suppose to fit. I'm not hating on comptech or anything either, I will be the first to admit that their product is unbelievable and a great piece of work. I actually had a set in early 00 that I ended up selling to buy rims w/

I probably sell him my CT's one of these days.

He's not sure. He paid to have it installed. So if the headers came with the gasket, most likely the shop used it. I told him to try the stock one from way back when we had this discussion, but he doesn't want to spend $150 dollor for labor and parts to put the stock gasket on. :o

Nothing more I can do for him....

I haven't put my obx headers on yet, they are going on this spring break. So is there anything else besides putting the stock gaskets back on? whats wrong with the set obx gives you?

No problems here and I do have the resonance... but honestly I only hear it once in a while, and I barely notice it when I do (since it blends with the exhausts).... so I voted no problems....

That's not the case unless you install the headers yourself.

You have to figure that installation averages about $200 (which is low.. I paid $250)... so that's $500 a pop minimum ($300 headers + $200 install)... so if you have problems, by the time you're putting on OBX for the second time, that's $1k... and you're in Comptech area now....

I mean, the odds are you'll have no problems... but just wanted to point that out

I had mine for about 9 months until I sold the car. I had no problems whatsoever other than the resonance sound which wasn't too bad at all.

Fitment was totally fine. Only took about 1.5 hours to install and no drilling was required.

Can't speak to the long-term reliability as I don't have the car anymore, but the welds looked solid and I'm sure it would have held up for quite some time

first off, I had to reweld the bung that secures the O2 sensor since it touches the oil pan and throws off check engine codes. then I took a close look and the damn welds on the headers have cracks and black sut building up around them. not to mention the resonance. my friend also has obx and has a few cracks in there too. shitty quality, must say.

No problems here. I only had resonance, like Darrinb, I live in VTEC also j/k. I had the OBX's on my car for approx 4 months. My resonance came from the OBX's in combination with my Thermal R&D Exhausts (they love to rumble heh).
