Not your Typical "what is my CL-S" worth thread

Guys,

Question for you all...

I was laid off a while back and it now may be necessary for me to sell my CL-S. A year ago I traded my 02 CL-S slushbox in on an Acura Certified 6-speed with NAV. It had 21K on it at the time and came with the MODS listed in my signature.

It now has 25K (her "2nd B-day" is this month) and I am wondering if it is worth more than what Edmunds shows ($25.6K for certified) or Kelly Blue Book ($24K) given all the MODS it has on it or does having Mods NOT raise the value of the car???

Hopefully the link I've provided works and you can see what she looks like.

Thanks

W

I agree. If you want anything for the mods, you will have to strip them from the car and sell them speratley. Good luck to you.

depends on who you are trying to sell it to.

If I was you I would try to sell it privately, and try to find someone who would appreciate the mods (and their value). Advertise towards a younger crowd, college classifieds and stuff.

for trade in value the mods will not help, might detract from the value.

They speak the truth. The only thing that would make the price of the car go up would be the addition of genuine Acura parts. Aftermarket mods will take away from the value of the car. Best thing to do if you want to sell is take off what you can, put the stock parts back on, and part out the mods....

You drove 4,000 miles in a year?!
So that's just like 13 gas refills?

If you are interested in selling your rims, give me a holler. I can even swap for stock if need be.

Wayne,

here is an alternative.... maybe do a swap with someone who has a 01 CL-S. That way, you get some bucks and still have a car.

I was thinking of asking you to do that, but to be honest, I am not into the mods...

Thanks Guys for the advice. I'm hoping I won't have to sell her but need to plan for it just in case. :-(

If I do sell it, I would like to sell it as is vs. selling the individual Mods. I'll keep you all posted if I change my mind.

Yes, I only drove 4K last year. Incredible I know but I work (or used to) only 2 miles from home. :-)

if you want to go that route let me know.

I was thinking about doing a trade up at the dealer but I would get raped...might consider doing it privately.

I've got white 01 cl-s w/ 40k

stock besides AEM intake and a bunch of stereo shit.

Hey Wayne. How far are you from Portland? We need someone to take a 6-speed to Unichip so they can make a chip for it.

You have my deepest sympathies. I moved back to the Seattle area a few years ago from the east coast and the job market here sucks. My consulting work has gotten so slow that I'm out looking for a full-time job again. After several months of looking, I finally found one. Bottom line, it sucks here now, but keep searching and something will pop up.

Good luck!

ChadT-

I'm about 2-3 hours from Portland. I'm not sure I'd be willing to participate though. Sorry about that.

NW-CL-

Yes the job market does such here. If nothing comes up soon I might be heading out of state to find something.

Yeah, but like every thing else, that's only half the story. I don't think they mentioned how close to invoice they negotiated the new car down to or if they were paying MSRP. BTW, I think that the AAA price is like $800 over invoice for a 30K vehicle (popular cars excluded, as you have to pay the "first on the block" tax/markup on those).

The dealer wants to make money on the trade-in OR the new car OR both.

That being said, I don't think that 20K is out of the ballpark. I'd say 19-23K depending on if it's a trade in or private sale. Sounds like you're looking for a private sale, so $23K ?? Less if you want it to move quickly.
