Thanks Montez, someone else already enlightened me. I thought there was a big diff in performance between the auto and stick, it was my uneducated guess.

i think most mustang owners know that the 94-95 are the slowest mustangs made(87-present).
What Mustang owners are you thinking of? They are the slowest of the 5.0s from 87 up, but they are quite a bit quicker than the 96-98 GTs. I Heck the other night, I almost beat a 96 Cobra at the track, lost by 2 tenths and I had my worst 60' ever(2.4). Oh well, I'll get him next time(oh, his wasn't great at 2.3X either LOL, but I know I can do better).

I love Mustangs; they taste like chicken.

However, every now and then I run into one that leaves me goin'

Thanks (re: 1/4 mile time); my Max was on a tear that day. Incidently, that was the day my MAF sensor went bad and I had to "limp" the car to the dealership (Acme Nissan).

Anyway, the guy I spoke with has a 99+ GT and I'm guessing his baseline 1/4 mile was already very low 14s. But I don't know the HP gains of a good intake and "gears" on a 99+ GT. (I havent been into domestics since college in the late 1980s and it's very rare when I actually pickup a performance mag that features Stangs.)

Though I'm an import enthusiast, I never doubt the ease with which Mustangs (and GM F-body cars) gain HP with simple mods. Like JTKZ stated, "It's hard to know what a Mustang will run, because it could be a bone stock mid 15 sec car, or a modded 12 sec ride. You won't know till you race usually." And with import cars, 12seconds = forced induction.

Peace.

A 99+ GT 5 speed say with 4.10's, exhaust, all the bolt ons and slicks could maybe touch 12's, but not on average. I would say most full bolt-on + gear 99+ 5 speeds run about 102-103mph, which is probably good for low 13's on slicks.

i ran 99+gt manual a few times down 8 mile, i posted the story, the guy said he had All the bolt ons and 3.73 gears, he didnt really pull away from me, i got him off the line once up to like 50 but traffic came up and we slowed down, i know he'd own me from a roll but i think w/ those gears and mods its very hard to launch on stock tires , i think thats why i took him offf the line

a mustang is like a box of choclates, you never know what your gonna get

I'd agree with that.

........w/ those gears and mods its very hard to launch on stock tires.... Yeah it is. Last night I came out of a toll booth and brought the car up to about 4500rpms in 2nd and matted it. I got very sideways, to the point where I had to get off the gas.

I agree with darrinb and PullT. but you'd need to be one hell of a driver to to get the 12's. I haven't seen the ET yet on a full bolt on 99+ w/o some major suspension mods but I have seen 104 mph, so the power is there.

I've seen a 2000 GT with the following reach 12s but he is the best driver i know and also rowed it to 13.6 bone stock:

3.73s
Nitto 275/40 DRs
TriAx Shifter
o/r H
Flowmaster CatBack
Pulleys

another caveat....these were done at Houston Raceway Park, one of the fastest tracks in the country and in exceptionally outstanding weather on a well prepped track. Both days were in the -2000 DA range...early Feb, 40 degrees, 31 pressure, low humidity

Assuming both cars are stock, a race between a 94-98 GT and a CLS is dead even in my book. For the 1/4 all are high 14 second cars.

i disagree pull. i've run many a stangs (i'm talkin 87-98) and haven't lost one yet. and most had at least exhaust work done. ofcourse i'm not claiming any wins against any highly modded ones, haven't had a chance to run one yet.

surprised you didn't win....

96-98 are like giant oversized turtles. Stock that is.... means a '99-03 would smoke you out good.

'03 GT -- 260hp/302ft-lb torque
'03 Mach1 - 302HP/320ft-lb (not exactly sure on this number)

'03 Cobra -- 390HP/390ft-lb torque
(highly underrated by Ford)

He means just gear and intake minus passenger seat, rear seat, sound deadening, power steering, a/c, radio, spare tire and jack, ET Streets, center console, and interior trim... maybe THAT would run a 12.8. =)
