noob audio question

Before this gets moved to the audio section, i tried and got no answers;
Where is the sub in my car (03 cl-s 6speed)? Are the rear speakers considered subs or is there a seperate sub somewhere?

all 4 are run through the amp and are just plain speakers. you have 2 ways in the fronts. the bose is just stock.

You didn't get that left out. The 6x9's in the CL almost has the bass of the 8in sub in the TL while the CL gets added clarity from the highs from the added tweeters in the A-pillars that the TL does not get.

Anyone know how much power the amp in the CL puts out? Thanks.

The Hondanews.com site doesn't give power but when I purchased my 03 CL-S 6speed new the power rating on the window read 160watts.

The 6x9's are indeed 2-way as i remembered and this site confirmed it...

PREMIUM MUSIC SYSTEM
The Acura/Bose® Music System is standard equipment on all CL models. Designed and built as an integral part of the car, this sound system is engineered to take advantage of the CL's unique acoustics. All six speakers have been strategically located and the bass response has been enhanced by utilizing co-axial speakers on the rear parcel tray.

The Acura/Bose® Music System includes a 6-disc, in-dash CD changer that allows six discs to be stored without a separate trunk-mounted unit or cartridges. Though it looks similar to a single disc, in-dash unit, the Acura/Bose" 6-disc in-dash changer stores up to 6 compact discs inside the dash-mounted unit.

The system will automatically shuffle the discs and allow for hours of constant or random music selections. The system also incorporates a cassette deck for increased audio flexibility. To allow the driver to remain focused on the road, radio stations, CD selections and volume can be conveniently operated from buttons on the steering wheel.

the factory system in these cars is pure garbage, you could go out and spend as little as possible on replacement speakers and it would still be better

Yea I just added a sub/amp in my trunk and now my Bose stereo is perfect. Not sure why some think the OE setup is junk.

Is the bose amp in the cl the same as the tl? Any way i could run a small 8" sub for now and utilize the stock setup? Or do the tl have a seperate amp?

Amps are different. There's no reason to swap anything from a TL for marginally better bass response. If you want better sound go aftermarket & be done with it.

Surprisingly, the stock bose speakers are pretty good if you have the right after market head unit. I installed a Premier AVIC HU and it sounds great. Plenty of bass response from the 6x9. Mind you, it will never win a bass contest, so if you are looking for deep bass, go with a sub.

Not sure if anyone has tried the Basslink, but I had it in my S2000 and it was not boomy. It was more of a mid punch. So if you want deep tones, go with a good amp and seperate sub in a box.

I had 3. 1 in each CL I owned. Plus had one in a suburban. Was fine for me. A little muddy, but workable.

I built a box that housed a 8 inch kicker square sub that fit behind the opening behind the rear arm rest. It sounded great, the bose sounds really good with a sub filling out the bottom.

Edit: I'll probably sell it soon since I sold the car.
