No-Cut TL side skirts....
Alright, so in between studying for law exams (very little time) I have fooled around with my TL side skirts and rear lip. I put the side skirts away for the time being and was cutting and fixing the rear lip, but I went back to the side skirts just for fun.
They are not OEM TL side skirts, they are replica OEM TL (fiberglass) from a guy on ebay. They didn't have any of the mounting gear on them (which was better because i could basically just slide them up to test fit without cutting)
But I basically wedged them up (held up by the pressure of the CL skirt) so they would hold with the door closed, not for permanent fix, but just so I could step back and take a look at how much I would need to cut, get a good eyeball of the work ahead of me, then I noticed...
You guys talk of an inch gap, but on these skirts (I dunno if it's because they aren't from Acura or what), there is literally 1/8th inch overhang on the skirts. Not enough to warrant any kind of cutting and re-fitting.
Also, these skirts without any mounting hardware (just fiberglass shells basically) fit SO snuggly up against the stock side skirt, I am probably just going to bolt them up to the ends of the stock side skirts and throw some 3M tape on the stock side skirt in order to secure themt. Hell, I even drove a bit with it just shoved in there and the door shut and they held, with no work what so ever.
So....long story short.....No cutting, no ruining you stock side skirts....I could probably have this done in about an hour but I dont have the time. And no digital camera or I would take some pics. But once I get done with finals I'll throw some up and let you guys see.
(jesus this was long winded)

also maybe you can mimic the stock cl mounting with some custom work. that way you can mount it without the actual stock cl side skirts.
should get some pictures though
this is what i have on my car right now. i also bought it off ebay also which came in a complete tl set (sides + front and rear which i never installed so if anyone wants them imma sell it for cheap, lol) which cost me around 400 bucks
. bt instead of cutting it in the middle portion, i've just cut the front part and stuck it under the mud guards then i screwed the the rear end onto the oem sides. instead of using tape on the top side by the door panel, i bolted it on with screws. it doesnt really look bad knowing that it is fiber glass. but nonetheless i still got me the oem tl side skirts and hopefully start that project as soon as christmas break starts. school eats up a lot time. lol.

I highly doubt that side skirts will shatter, unless somehow i go sliding sideways into a concrete wall of some sort.
The rest of the lip kit (front and rear) are factory OEM, and durable as hell. I'm not too worried about the sides.
and yes. GO GATORS! I'll be in miami for sure.

No, the front and rear are made out of that ABS plastic material. Those are from the actual OEM kit. My side skirts however are fiberglass/composite material. However they are very durable. I've actually already dropped a croquet set on one and nothing happen. They are considerably flexible, and the thickness is pretty much the same as the OEM kit.

Oh...Ok.
I was confused because according to this website posted above.
http://www.lips-kit.com/product_info...roducts_id=125
It was mentioning that all pieces of the TL lip kit were fiberglass.
The side skirts on the OEM kit are also ABS?
