Next Project... two choices

Guys/Gals.

It's time to think about the next project. I have two ideas... both very long term (6 month time-frame at least).

(1) NA CL-S making 300whp - This should put the car in the very low 13-second range or even 12's with a clutch and slicks naturally aspirated

(2) Turbo CL-S making 550-600whp - This should run 11's with a proper setup

I haven't outlined the costs and what each project entails as yet... but the general goals are stated.

Which way should I go?

Non-forced induction...meaning no supercharger, no turbocharger and no NOS.

So does this mean that you gonna go do the 3.5L stroker allmotor? That would be an excellent base and allow you to up the compression to 11:1...and maybe grind some cams...that would put you around 300whp...and a shitload of torque.

no question, go balls to the wall, 500 whp sounds VERY nice...go all the way!!!!! youve already had 300+ whp..got bored with it, and sold it. not to mention, you have alot of knowledge now on how to adapt a turbo to a CL-S, so it wouldnt be as challenging as starting from scratch on a project of an n/a 300 hp cl-s.

a 300 whp CL-S isnt that impressive anymore, you already set the bar higher than that!!! its time to start getting some weaponry against the 500-600 whp is300's and the like.

600 WHP and you would be sure crack ing something the Acura designer does not expect you to have 600 FWHP that is 3X the stock requirements..

if this is indeed the case, it just proves that the IS300 is a superior car as it can handle 500+ whp on stock internals. allmotor, PROVE THIS WRONG!! go all out!!!

ALL MOTOR BABY!!

I give respect to all cars at the track that is running 12's with N/A setup. I mean 300+ whp with FI is one thing, but to do it N/A style will be a leage of it's own, especially for a car like ours to do 12's.

I say that comparing a 300+HP FI car to a 300+HP N/A is like comparing apples to oragnes.. It would be hella fun to work on the motor to make it a 12 second car with no FI. If anyone could do it, it would be you ALL_Motor!! I say go for it!!

You already did the turbo thing, why not just go NA for kicks to prove it can be done?

Wouldn't the NA route be more reliable for a daily driver? (if that matters to you)

n/a all the way......... 3.5L stroker!!!!! Show those Nissan boyz what a REAL 3.5L engine is like! Plus, you have a nice base to work from. You could go 3.5L -----> S/C 3.5L in which case you'll embarrass the GTP crowd. You could also build a turbo motor and push 400whp /350ftlbs trq without issue Ahhhhh the possibilities!!!

Allmotor I have to agree with the crowd I want to see the Turbo CL-S in the TURBO magazine. Next thing you know everybody will be talking about the CL-S increasing its resale value ten-folds. Do it and then go naturally aspirated or can you go N/A and do the 1/4 # and dyno #'s then on that worked motor add the Turbo making the Fast.....FASTER

I just want to read another All-Motor thread where he breaks his current 12.93 1/4 miles time.

Seriously though... You've done the Turbo. Why not go the other way and have the quickest CL-S the N/A way???

I don't really care about the 'fastest E.T' or anything because its always going to be broken.. or there is someone 'close' If that was the case... I wouldn't have sold my turbo kit until the car hit 12.5's (which is probably around the max this motor can achieve without internal work). 550-600whp WILL absolutely mean a rebuilt engine... no way the motor will handle this with stock internals... maybe 450 if you push it.. but that's it!

On the NA side... factors such as weight etc. will play a role. 3.5 conversion might be necessary to run 12's.. but not to run mid-low 13's. The problem with an NA motor is that nobody will give a sh*t when I want to sell the car... a turbo-kit can always be sold. I probably have more experience building NA cars... but weight is a big factor that works against the CL-S.

I weighed my damn 16" TL's with the Nitto's today while shipping them.. 44lbs each!!! Was probably slowing me down instead of helping me... what a moron I am!

Either way there are a few things that need to make itself available.... primarily engine management. I don't want to create my own ECU.

OR... should just buy a 350Z and turbocharge that!

Stick to the CLS6, you're our hero and many of us would be crushed if you went to the dark side!

I voted NA because that way you can help some of us auto guys with some tips and how to make the car faster NA!

My vote was N/A because that's the ultimate challenge, seeing how much power you can get out of our 3.2's without help. Alot of the people on this board would be glued to their screens every night seeing what you are up to next, and then asking you how you did it and then buying the parts to do it themselves. I was thinking there must be something beyond I/H/E, pulleys and so on that will get us to 300 at the wheels. You are the guy to do it! Thanks for your hard work and for making this board better than it already is. Almost nothing beats horsepower for driving fun!

I'm torn. I love my CL-S and the notion of N/A, but the power of my "other favorite" car, the MKIV Supra TT, can be mindblowing. Those things rip like f*ck! I know I'm not much help and I didn't vote cuz I couldn't decide. Whatever you choose, you'll do it well...that's fo sho!!

well what ever you do lets get some real PROOF this time.....

instead of a video of a 13.4@ 108 then saying some BS about runing 12's (it's funny i would have made sure i got that one on tape)

thanks for the dyno sheet BUT you did not need to say "i took my exhaust off and dynoed 375 to the wheels or some shit like that"

bottom line i know you did do a turbo on your car and i do give you credit on that but theres no reason to bullshit about the other stuff...:thumbsdn:

1) there is no way on 6psi he ran 12's.. if he was on 8 or 9psi yes thats possible...

2) why did he sell it so quick after he did it?? and if he ran the 12 the same day he got the 13.4 on tape why isn't the 12 on tape??

3) i never said anything about your times you have nothing to lie about

fastvtecCL,

HE POSTED THE SLIP (obviously you didn't read you dipshit)

HE HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE VIDEO(obviously you didn't read the post except for watching his 13 second run- YES WE ALL WERE DISAPPOINTED NOT TO SEE THE 12 SEC RUN...)

so your a dumbass, shut the fuck up and start another thread if your gonna talk shit!
NUFF SAID.

allmotor,
do the turbo setup and make it more badass than it was before! This time go with some kind of engine management that you can plug a laptop into and calibrate air/fuel maps to pull all kinds of power out of. Get a bigger turbo(I know the last one was cramped)

I know every night for 3 or 4 weeks I read about your progress till my eyes bled!

Im not one to usually do any shit talking, cause of course no one believes any of my "kills", even when i get them on video....im not doubting Allmotor pulled off a 13.4, but honestly if you know the car is gonna be fast, why wouldnt you wanna get it on video? Especially with this one of a kind creation. I also dont think Fastvteccl is being defensive about being the "fastest" CL, b/c he is still the "fastest" 3.0CL to date......I guess in a nut shell, why no video?

Oh and CLSMike, this summer im coming to Florida, so you and I can have a go, b/c if you only trapped 104 w/out headers, i seriously doubt your gonna get 5mph out of the headers, hell, i trapped 97 with the intake and 100 (once) with the headers....

Oh yeah....go with the 600hp turbo setup...i would really like to see that....
