newpics

Whatsup guys. I had the week off for spring break, and decided to get some car stuff outta the way. I got my 235/45-17 eagle gs-d3 f1s put on the stock wheels, got my ground kit and icebox installed, painted my engine cover and icebox gunmetal, and painted my wing and A on the front grille flat black along with my type s license that lost the paint from wear. I haven't seen anyone else who has painted their front grille black like this yet. I think it turned out real good. Tell me what you guys think. Be honest. Oh i also put some very small 3 inch silver neuspeed stickers on the back window. Flame away if you want, but i like em and you cant even see em past 10 feet. Here is my imagestation folder. Yes it requires a password. Hopefully someone can post them directly for me. Imagestation wont let you host.

Thanks Scrib. I love the way they look. That is one of the reasons i got these instead of the michelin ps2 and the ps2s are more. I love the tread pattern, and the grip from these is a night and day difference from both the stocks and my set of dunlop sp sport 5000. I havent noticed any vibrations or anything. I was a little worried about that going with the 235/45.

thanx clpower. i really like how it turned out too. At first i was trying to think if i should just paint the wing and leave the a chrome, but i decided to just paint it. I was contemplating painting the back A black too. What you guys think. Leave the back A chrome or paint it flat black like the front.

For the countless people here who have gone with that size on stock rims, you'll be fine. Every so often you'll hear of problems, but most are either install errors or a tire defect.

I wouldn't sweat it.

Especially when those fockers look so damn good.

thanks for posting them for me chap. I appreciate it. I noticed after lookin at my pics that it seems the pin stripe i have from the dealer stands out alot more than in person. removing that will be my next project. Do i just need some paint reducer, put it on a towel, and rub it on the stripe to remove, or is there more too it. A shop said theyd do it for like 60 bucks, but id rather do it myself as long as i dont fuck up the paint. Will it make a difference if there is zaino over the stripe??

I had pin stripes on my beater. I just peeled them off and used goo gone to get the residue off. Looked fine afterwards. Nice pics too!

Oh yea, that matters. Not sure how you'd get them off if they're painted. You may want to leave it up to a shop. At least that way, if they screw up, they're accountable.

I really like the engine covers color. But I don't know about the A being black. If the car was anthracite or black it would look hot. That's just me What paint did you use????

Thanks for being honest. I don't expect everyone to like it. For the engine cover i used 500 degree engine enamel made by plasti-coat. It is gunmetal. I used dupli color flat black on the grill. Got em from walmart for 3 bucks a can. I also used a clear coat on the engine covers.

they are like 150-160 a piece. They're not cheap. They are summer tires. I got them from tirerack. All i see them offer is the 225/45 or the 235/45. I dont see 215/50 on tirerack. They have a special on tirerack for them now where you receive a 75$ free gas debit card with purchase of these tires. Sucks they put that up after i already ordered them.

did you paint it flat black? Did you sand it with 320 sandpaper and prime it before hand. How many coats of paint you use. Hopefully it will stand up pretty good against chips. If it doesnt, then i can just sand it down and repaint. I also am probably gonna get a grile tech grile when they are available. Post a pic if you got one.

I could notice the power difference right away. It is a little louder, especially in vtec, but it is hard to notice. I didn't expect it to be loud, but it is more quiet than i expected. Overall im very pleased with it and would definately recommend you get it. There just seems to be too many issues with the aem and this has slightly better gains. With the Aem iv'e heard of the annoying whining, especially on the highway, and the issues with the aem bypass valve breaking and getting sucked into the intake. Otherwise you gotta cut a section of tubing to fill the gap were the bypass should be.

I've never been able to figure out whether the resonance I hear when I stop on the gas at low rpms in 3/4/5 are from my icebox or headers (since they were installed at the same time). But it's definitely noticable.

Derelict, what brand headers? obx or ct? (my guess is OBX)

but I can tell you I have CT icebox and CT headers and have ZERO resonance.

Did you sand it before priming it, and its hard to tell from that pic. Did you just paint the wing piece?

Yea if you have any questions about it let me know. It is an easy process and im sure itll turn out fine. Just make sure you clean it first, then sand it down with 320 sandpaper before you prime it, then you can sand again after you prime it if you need too, then just spray it and wait like 10-15 minutes between coats. I put like 3-5 coats on mine. Then i let it sit atleast a day to fully cure before putting it on.
