New tires. Looking at the michelin pilots

These in a 235/45/17 used to sell for about 240.00/tire.

I can now get these for 173/tire

Is this now a tossup with the toyos or anythign else???

For $173 a tire, you could get 10x better... in just about any other brand.

Toyos are good, Pirelli's are better IMHO.

Both cheaper in 17's than the crappy stock tires.

Do a search & you'll find a ton of recent posts on your specific quandry.

Believe he's talking about Pilot Sports, which are not the crappy stock tire, and not sure if he's talking about A/S or not. with all the complaints about Sumi's and Conti's (wear, balance, etc), the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is a known quantity ... and as we are seeing, you do seem to get what you pay for.

Pilot sports are a good handling/[erformance tire. They tend to get louder with wear.
toyo T1S is a good handling tire, they too get louder as they wear. Good performance wet/dry
S03 is good performance wet/dry, quieter than the Pilot or Toyo.
Pirelli Pzero Rosso, good performance wet/dry best ride on the street of the bunch. quieter than all of them
Dunlop Sp9000 decent performance wet/dry, quiet tire

For the street I have liked the Rosso the best. Not as sporty looking as the others but good performance, nice ride and quiet.
Next would be the S03's.
For someone else they might have different wants, its all up to you.
Any one of the above tires usually is more tire than any of us need : )
