New Rotoras & Painted Calipers.. Check it out

Well here it is. I finally got around to installing these rotors I had sitting in my garage. The job was ten times easier than I expected. Probably because I had an impact screwdriver. I decided to paint the calipers black for that low key stealthy look. Came out nice.

I used akebono pads. Iv'e only drvien with the new pads and rotors for about 25 mi. Cant really tell if theres better stopping performance since i'm still breaking them in, and only the rear is done.

One question, the rotora rotors came in bags with each marked for installation on the left and right. I tried installing the left rotor on the left side of the car but the philips screw holes and wheel lugs didn't line up. Tried the LH rotor on the right side and it lined up perfectly. The rotor marked RH fit perfectly on the left side. Go figure.

I installed them like that but the Rotora installation instructions are basically saying that my slots are facing the wrong way. Should I worry or just leave them as is?

I've never installed rotors before, but will be getting my new ones within the next few weeks, but If I were you I'd follow the rotora directions. Right should fit on right, and left should fit on left. Like I stated before, I've NEVER installed rotors, but it's ALWAYS good to follow the directions, and if anything call Rotora and let them know the situation, you never know....they could have messed up!!!!!! Always good to be sure though.....Double check with the pro's!!

Rotora slotted rotors are directional, they aren't helping if you have them backwards.

The slots should be pointing forward. And ya know...the bags say what rotor is which.

Sheesh!

Good thing that you went with black for the calipers. Post some larger pics.

Sorry about the small pic. Heres a better one. You could see the slots are facing backwards instead of forwards and rotor screw holes and lugs all match up. This rotor was marked as "RH". Even if it was put in the wrong bag, slots are facing the wrong way.

Left Rear Shown

I think I'm just going to swap them out since it wasn't a big deal to do the break job. The only thing is I wont be able to install the rotor screws. I don't think I need them anyway. The five lug nuts dont need any help.

like you said, these are backwards per Rotora's instructions. but i don't think you will feel anything wrong. which doesn't necessarily mean it will be okay. if you can still change them soon, i advise to do it soon. just in case.

umm, screws are on there for a reason buddy. Try rotating the rotor til they match up, or get with someone who knows whats going on. you should never end up with extra parts after a job, esp brakes!

On the ROTORA rotor the slots should face the front of the car. The holes line up. You need to rotate the rotor until the holes do line up. It is possible to put the rotor on and the holes won't match up if you didn't put it on the right way. The screws are really there just to hold the rotor on while doing the install. I always re-install them but they aren't technically necessary since the lugs hold the rotor in place.

Yeah, i'll try to swap the rotors and rotate them unitl all holes line up. Its probably just a 180 turn since the screws look like there directly across from each other. I could of sworn that i tried rotating them before, guess not.

And yes the rotor shown was marked as RH but is installed on the left side. I couldn't get all holes to line up on the right side (most likely my fault). This time i'll try rotating and i'll let you guys know if it dosent fit up, it better!

put the screws. like Excelerate said, it will go to the right hole. just try to rotate them until they line up. that should be on the other side. slotted rotors function is to prevent your brakes from overheating specially on backward position...
