New Project Closes chapter on Turbo

New Project Closes chapter on Turbo
Well, after giving this some thought I've decided what to do. My turbo kit that Ram built is up for sale in the Black Market.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...37#post5336837

I'm not out of the CL business by a long shot. I've been looking for a decent wreck for over a year and finally found one. Here is a pic of the salvaged CLS I picked up last week. The plan is to make it a RWD with my 3.5 I've been working on forever. It goes to the shop once I move the turbo.

Here's the car, it came from Georgia in the Atlanta area, don't know if it was a members car from Acurazine.

Don't asked for parts from this car as I'm not ready to part it out yet, that will come but I have my work cut out for me on removing the turbo from the other CL.

Why not mount the motor in the rear seats/trunk area and make it a mid engine/rear wheel drive car

This should be fun...

What's gonna happen with the silver one?

I've never been a fan of that kind of setup and it would be cramped imo. I'm talking full cage on this car and utilizing a Powerglide tranny, just need an engine plate.

gonna keep the ssm as a daily driver and put it back to stock.

Very interesting.

Any ideas on how your gonna set up the rear? Planning on a solid rear axle or an independent suspension set-up?

It actually is in fairly good condition...it drives and shifts OK, drove it down the street, motor sounds good. I noticed the tranny didn't have the oil jet, but the tranny looks to be either new or most definetly recently installed as it's shiny compared to the motor. Did they ever come up with a tranny that doesn't need the oil jet?

the motor will be in a different configuration and the turbo as it is now would not fit.

ThinJim - That is awesome, doesn't look like any frame damage at all. The structural integrity should be fine for your projects.

Also, Not sure about the oil jet. I have been fortunate enough to have a 6 speed. What sort of transmission are you planning with the new beast?

Hmmm, well that wouldn't be a problem anyway, the only near-by drag (1/8th mile) strip (soon to be 1/4 mile) just opened less than 4 miles from my house on us-27.

Its a rwd ls-1 prelude. He hasn't finished it yet but he works pretty quick.
I have always thought the 2nd gen cl as a big brother to the 4th gen lude. Thats why I am soon upgrading.

Sweet. I know a couple people that have done such projects. One is a local car repaid guy. He has a Ford Festiva with a Mazda 323 1.6L V6 (smallest V6 ever put in a production vehicle) mounted in the rear with a turbo and NOS (and full roll cage). And the most badass of all, the SHOgun.

What do ya get when they throw a Yamaha built SHO engine in the back of a Ford Festiva along with the SHO suspension? How about a 12 second car that can pull 1.04g in the corners (even today less then 5 production cars can beat that).

This is one of the 8 originally made (Jay Leno owned #3 but later blew it up with a bit too much NOS). It was supercharged and runs 425HP (about what you get when you supercharge the SHO engine with no other mods). It'd eat up just about any Ferrari or Porsche out there.

[img]http://www.motorcities.com/media/image/640/05J98293125700A/1990-Ford-Festiva-ShoGun-A-640.jpeg[/img

Why not make it real interesting and go with the dual engine, one in the front and one in the back? Someone over on the SHOForum.com is doin it (fairly far along in the project). Auto tranny in the reat and manual in the front.

Na, I'm to conventional on what I want my cars to do. Besides, that would be too complicated. I'd like to have a consistant mid 9 sec car that looks good and is a one off for the most part.

Where are you getting the work done if you don't mind sharing, I plan on keeping this car for a long time and might want to do a 3.5 conversion down the road.
