346MPG (Miles per GALLON) would be impressive.
346 (Miles per TANK)….Not so much.

I’ll say it again….You have to fill up and track your mileage tank to tank to get an accurate number.
Everyone seems to like the “miles per tank” number even though it’s highly inaccurate.
Whenever I get gas, I fill it up and reset the trip counter.
It’s not that hard to do.

were your 309 miles mostly city? when i'm doing a lot of freeway miles i get 340+ be my light comes on and if i'm doing about 50/50 it'll be anywhere between 305-320 when my light comes on depending on how much city driving i'm doing...

miles per tank can give you a ballpark comparison if you have a lot of data points but is extremely innacurate for measuring tank-tank. One statistics class and you will realize your numbers don't mean squat. You could have even gotten better mileage on your 309 mile tank than the 346 one. Like Shawn S says, if you're really interested in gas mileage, miles per gallon is the way to go. That being said... I get between 360-480 'miles per tank'.

Very interesting thread. I was just getting ready to open my own thread about my mpg calculations recently.
I just completed a trip from Annapolis Maryland to Pensacola Florida. The trip was just over 1100 miles each way. I saved every reciept and wrote exact mileage on every one. This trip was 90% highway driving on fairly flat straight roads. Cruise control and the usage of air conditioning made a fair amount of difference.
A sampling of the data:
Shell Food Mart, Lagrange GA
395 trip miles/12.554 gallons=31.46 MPG
Shell Gas Station, Pensacola FL
344 trip miles/13.77 gallons=24.97 MPG
Redmill Quick Stop, Duram NC
417 trip miles/12.524 gallons=33.30 MPG
Mean average= 29.91 MPG highway.
I thought that was pretty damn good mileage for this car.

Those are some excellent mileage numbers.
With the average calculated over 3 fill ups, your numbers are not a fluke and are very good. I wish I saw that type of mileage. I wonder if the Supercharger has anything to do with my poor mileage

how do you all achieve such high numbers? i reset my trip counter after each fillup and i think the best i've gotten EVER was 315. But that was because it was mainly highway miles. How the HELL does one get more than that? Help me out, cuz gas in CA is starting to rise again.

i average about 350-370 per tank here in NC. it used to be a little higher during winter like 380, but that was probably b/c of the colder denser air. i drive mostly highway and occasionally gun it to remember why i bought the car! if i gun it too much i've seen it only get 300 per tank.
oh yeah i use 93 octane so that may also help.

I usually end up around 300 - 320 per tank. And my fill ups usually pop the gas gun at around 14 gallons, maybe a bit more. That's around 21-22mpg, with mostly city commuting traffic.

I measure my mileage from a full tank (no topping off) to when the gas light comes on.
I had an all-time S/C high of 235 miles on my last fill-up. Usually it's below 200

Don't get me wrong fellas, when I saw those numbers I jumped up and down with delight. My usual numbers reflect about 19-25 mpg tops. Again, this was probably the best mileage I will EVER see out of this car, the conditions could't have been better.

I normally only get 20-22 MPG, but I enjoy revving the car and having fun with it on my daily drive.
I’ll take the 2-4 MPG loss as a tradeoff from what I’d get if I drove like an old lady every day.
That's why I bought a CL-S, not a Civic.

I do about the same... I do have to drive thru stop and go traffic during my commute (both ways) but I still get 20-22... (up to 26 on long highway drives).
My miles per tank would skew the trends because I generally tank up by adding 10-14 gallons... Mostly about 11-12. I've only seen the low fuel light a couple of times.

Mostly hwy. I do about 50 miles/day commuting to work. So, 300 miles/week on just commuting. I used to average about 300miles/tank. 346miles when the light came on Sunday.

I usually try to go up to Laurel cause I can usually get gas cheaper there. If I'm lucky, I might stop at one of the cheap-looking gas stations in Landover Hills and fill-up.
