New CL Owner

Picked up my new CL this weekend. Got a great deal on a great car. Love the NAVI. What a great toy. Stereo sounds fantastic as well. Don't know why anyone would want to replace it. PUt about 400 miles on it this weekend. Thanks to everyone for the pricing info last week.

I got a 2002 Black CL with Navigation. Included were the ultra high performance splash guards and triple plated locking lug nuts. I think those two options are worth at least 5 hp gain. I paid $28190 plus tax and fees. It took me 3 hours from start to finish. Just picked up some Zaino and will start waxing her up this afternoon.

I figure with the dealer holdback they still made $1000 on the car. No bad though. Two other dealers passed up the same deal.

No spoiler and they didn't have my floor mats in stock. I guess I'll have to take up knitting and make a set. Actually the dealer said they'd be in this week.

What's new on the '03 besides OnStar and 6 speed manual?

Well actualy it meen Premium, but plain will do That does explain the low price more though, cause if you got a type s for that that would realy be a steal.....and the difference between the 02 and 03 besides on star and manual are just cosmitic mostly...go to the first post on the car talk page and there is about a 25 page post on it.

Hi,

Can you tell me where did you buy it? I am looking for a new CL S w/Navi in Northern CA. By the way, How hard for you to get $28190 deal? I think is very good deal becasue the MSRP is $32,830 (Correct me if i am wrong) How many dealer did you try and how many are willing to offer you this deal?

Thanks in advance!

I visited 3 dealers before I purchased. I started with the CarsDirect.com price of $28620 and went from there. They could either beat that price or I was going to order it from CarsDirect. The first dealer I went to didn't have my color. The second dealer offered to get the color I wanted but wouldn't match or beat the price.

The CarsDirect.com price for an "S" with NAVI in SoCal is $29042.

Happy Hunting

No offense, but that to seems a bit high for a CL-P... I know that it is a 2002 model but still.

IMO..

Hey it's your hard earned money. They will try and make you feel stupid. They will try and tell you how they have to feed their kids. Don't let them get away with it. Do your homework. Find out what the car really costs and start there. When they let you walk out of the showroom you are close to the right price. If they take your first offer, it was too high. Leave your number, a salesman may reconsider and give you a call. If you've never bought a new car or have trouble making a good offer, check out this website.

http://www.carbuyingtips.com

Basically, here's what I start with

Invoice Price
- dealer holdback (usually 3% of MSRP)
+ 3-5% of invoice for dealer profit (make your first offer at invoice + 2% and that will set the tone)

You will still have to pay destination, taxes and fees on top.

Good luck

Hi Dewey,

Thanks so much for your information!

I think i am going to call your salesman in S. Cal and ask him can he do the same price at $28,190. I will buy it from him if he can do it. But can you tell me when did you buy it from him and do you think he will remember if i mention your name? (What's your name if i am going to tell him?)

Thanks in advance!

You didn't do bad at all. They were asking another $1300 for the those wheels and the "S" adds another $2000. Hey it's all behind you now. Enjoy the car.
