New CL Coming?

Maybe you're both right. The RSX is said to be moving upscale with the next re-design. I was thinking along the lines of becoming more like the TSX, but maybe Acura has plans to move it up onto the TL platform and make it more CL like. soopa and others have agreed that the CL name may not hold and it maybe something new ... but maybe its something old instead. RSX Type S w/ SH-AWD? ... I dunno, I'm just speculating.
In either case, it will be interesting to see what Acura comes up with this next go-around. Hopefully it will be something sweet.
soopa, if they change the name that means you'd better hurry up and gobble up the domain-name. I think acura-rsx.com is already taken

Hmm, didn't mean to start a war or anything.
MY 2006 puts it close to the time for the totally new Cobra, so maybe I should wait and see what happens. A 4 door just isn't in the cards for me, I don't need the 2 extra doors. But god I love the TL otherwise. All I'm wanting is an affordable, comfortable, cool-looking luxury manual tranny coupe for frequent road trips. If Acura could just make a 2 door version of the '04 6 speed TL, I'll write the check right now.
A G35 would fit the bill if it weren't so god awful ugly. Nissan has lost it's mind in the styling dept, see the new Maxima if you need more proof.

Lots of other options. I'm *not* holding my breath.
The G35C is not ugly, the interior is questionable. But the outside is great.
From the pics the new RL looks pretty boring. It looks like a big Toyota.

Hell, they cost 43K TEN YEARS AGO !!!
I just hope Acura figures out how to do 4WD with a manual Tranny.
I’m in no rush though. I’m good with the CL-S for another 3-4 years at least.
It will have to be quite impressive for me to change my future trade-up plans timeframe.

God I hope not.
I think the "RSX" name has already been branded. I don't know about everyone else but I don't think of a luxury coupe I'd wanna drive when I hear "RSX" .

WTH let me guess - 300HP with SH-AWD as 05 RL hehe.
But if manifold design the same as new TL or Accord - I dont want it :sqntfawk:
Headers got to be there IMO.

What I meant to say was...I wish they would bring back the legend badge for the new RL - It still carries weight. I know people who are Maxima fanatics for several generations of the Maxima and bought the new one before realizing how god awful ugly it was.

Believe me, pictures of the RL do no justice for the real thing. That car is awesome. You gotta see one.

While I had my CLS6 in for an oil change, tire rotation, and an unplanned allignment (total: $172), I looked at the RL also.
One very beautiful and advanced car, no doubt. I'm quite used to operating very expensive machinery, like aircraft, up to $1,000,000 easy.
The RL is easily a very nice car. But at the same time, you have to answer the question: Do I want to spend 1/20th of a MILLION DOLLARS on a car? (Before tax)
I suppose the question is relative.

CLS 6MT Navi
I have to agree. My first Japanese car was a Honda Prelude, and I moved up to the 88 Legend Coupe, and then a 95 Legend Coupe. Now I have the CLS and expecting more killer coupes from Acura. If not, I'm going elsewhere, not a sedan buyer.

If all else fails and you dont want to wait around too long I hear Lexus has redone the IS300 and is making it a 2 dr with a convertible version. Not really clear on all the details about the car, but that info came from a GM rep I know so I believe him.

since we know nothing about the new "CL", let's just brand it the "Acura DL"---for "Down Low"---since no one knows much about it....this must be Acura's secret weapon to get back into the higher end sporty car fad that comes around once every 5-7 years.
I just contacted Negrodamus and he said it will be AWD with 275-285 HP since the RL is the biggest and a smaller can't have more HP than the flagship car, according to Acura tradition. It will eventually be available with air-conditioned seats, rear seats than recline, electroilluminescent gauges, standard 17" wheels, vioce-controlled navigation and audio/climate control.

I was reading on Automotive News that stated if Acura was redesigning the CL again, it would be for the 2006 model. So, maybe it will be sooner than we think.
Will they start R&D in mid 2005 or will they start injecting stories into the media about production of a redesigned CL?
