Neuspeed short shifter revisited...

Since I had one on my old 6mt I called up Neuspeed & asked if I could get another at the same price I got the first $49. They agreed & for $60 shipped I got another short shift kit for my new 6mt. It's normally $89.95. Good deal even at that price.

Installed it last night. I must say I didn't notice much of a difference with the first one I had, & it semed to add a notchy feeling to the shifter. This one I felt the difference right away. Also that notchyness is gone. Maybe they redesigned it again?

I don't know but I must recommened this kit now. It fit & works great. The shifter has no slop & the throws are just right.

Kit

I love short shifters... if done correctly, the car being driven becomes at least ten times more fun to drive whether it be on the highway or to the supermarket.

SS for life!

Do you have a contact at Neuspeed? For $60, I wouldn't mind trying it.

Does the neutral position stay in the same location as stock? I put a short shifter on my civic and it moved the neutral position more towards the dash away from the driver. Just wondering if the same case applies here. But, the civic didnt have a cable shifter, so this might not happen on the cl.

I'd love to get this if it were a drop in but to try it I'd need to modify the linkage and I don't think I want to do this.

it's simple to install and you can always put it back to original if you like the shift to be as long as a mack truck. Had mine in since they first came out and not one problem and no notchiness at all.

Allout- haven't seen you around much, how you been?

I sure hope your kidding

If you think the factory throw is long, then I have a few cars sitting at my house you should drive.

Not as long as a mack truck in the literal sense. It would seem that way if you put the short shifter on and then returned to stock.

I like the stock shifter, nice & short and low effort. I know what its like to have a short shifter (my mustang). Its really notchy and high effort, which is great for racing. But, it makes everyday driving a bit of a pain.

I never miss any gears and drive smoothly, also my track times speak for themselves, so I dont think I'll be upgrading.

Good job tho, glad to hear ya like it.

The NS isn't a normal short shifter. The CL app is just a piece of metal that rasies the stock shifter cable further up the shifter. As a result it shortens the throw. It's a simple install. You place the piece on the stock location, drill a small hole through the plate that's already there, install a new bolt, then reconnected the shift cable to the new connection point, & that's it.
The instructions are very clear & have detailed pics.
I called NS & asked for the reduced price. Since I ordered one before they gave me it at that price. You would have had to buy one before when it was at the cheap price to get a discount.

I have a VW Bus - THAT has a long throw. And the install involves drilling out a factory opening to make room for the linkage. I don't see how this can easily be reversed. Can it? If so then I might order it.

Is the throw feeling like the NSX shifter?

Your not permenatly changing anything. You simply drill a 2nd hole on the plate that's there. You can easily put the linkage back to the stock location. All you need is a new cotton pin.

You're speaking of two different gear boxes that, IMHO, are not compareable. In my opinion, Mustangs have always been notchy, whereas any Honda product is generally pretty smooth. The short shift kit will likely improve your already smooth CL-S even further. Maybe you'r track times will get even better with the kit!

For the record, I'm not trying to argue, just state a fact. And furthermore, when I set out to buy a car, I was actually in search of a Mustang GT, 5spd so, I've got love! I just to happened to fall head over heels for the CL-S.

I'm tempted to get one. It's a great shifter but if it can be improved, why not?

So you are drilling a second hole? And this does not weaken the part that gets drilled out? And I can just re-install the linkage in the original location? If all this is true then I very well might order that kit.

That's right. And it doesn't weaken. It's only like a 1/8" hole in a whole slab of metal.
