Need some help finding RIMS....

Has anyone found 19" rims with the correct offset for this car??? It's damn near impossible. Even in 18", I only found a total of 4 maybe 5 rims. Can someone tell me what offset would work for 19" rims even if its not perfect. Just need to know so tires wont scrub... thanks.

if you go to www.F1motorsports.com there's some rims on there called MVR Magnum which look real good in 19's...MVR actually only makes rims for BMW but according to David (a guy who works there) said he can get it custom to fit our Type-S....also stated that the offset is correct for our car...check out the reply...I think these rims in 19's would look bada$$

Dear sir,

The tires will be 235/35zr19 Pirelli P7000 or Nitto NT555. Just let me know which you prefer. The P7000 will perform better, but not last as long. Total price will run approximately $3500. The offset will be ET43 which would be just perfect as that vehicle take about ET42-48. Please le me know.

Best regards,
--David--

Check Tim at http://www.autocarparts.com

He specializes in TL/CL. Got my Harts from him, and most people on the TL board got wheels/tires from him as well.

Remember... its not that diameter of the rim that affects the offset... it is the width.

The problem is that not many people make a 19" rim with the correct width AND offset.

I find it hard to believe that those MVRs come in the right w/offset combination.

BMWs have an extremely low offset compared to us... so no BMW wheel should fit us.

I also find this hard to believe...but who are we to say since most of us only read about it while "these guys" work around and deal with rims/tires on a daily basis for many years...

As I understand it, you want to avoid having the inner edge of the wheel/tire any further in than your present 215/50/-17 on 17X7 wheels. Go to
www.tolan-hoechst.com/cars/tirecalc.htm to
see what happens. i.e. 235/40-19 on +35 offset 19x8 would increase inboard 0.107" (should be OK), and outboard 1.682".. I'm planning on going with 18x7.5 225/40-18's for an inboard increase of 0.05 and outboard increase of 0.838; or 235/40-18's for inboard increase of 0.251 and outboard increase of 1.038".. looking underneath the front end, I wouldn't want to increase the inboard by any more than 1/4 inch..

Technique as already got the following working:

17x8 +48 offset with 235/45-17s. Plug in these values.

I am waiting for the above mentioned wheels, and have checked the 235s on the stock wheels. There was plenty of room on the inside. I do agree with the assessment of staying with a 1/4 inch on the wheel inboard data. I didn't pull out some dial calipers, but I did have a good look (when installing the 235s). The 1/4" "wheel inboard" spec would be good "max" spec (until proven differently).

The outboard spec becomes an issue with loading, lowering, and rubbing on the fender wells.

The http://www.tolan-hoechst.com/cars/tirecalc.htm link with some known working and non-working combos would make for a great FAQ!

I said this before, but here goes again. I asked some folks at the LA Auto show who specialized in BMW, MB, and other German car wheels about some wheels for our cars. The saleperson asked for the exact make and year and said they didn't have ANY wheels that fit our cars. She said Japanese wheels were very different than the German stuff, and the offsets would never work.

(She said it, I didn't. But, you have to figure sales people are in the selling business, and if she thought they had any inventory to move, they would have tried!)

Do check the calculator *and* a few dealers for comparable specs -- be safe!

Let me add one thing, Stock CLS is 17" going 18" is nice and doable. However, 3 other issues are in very important:

1) Weight, 17-18 lb is sweet spot for 18"
2) Integrity of the wheel, How do they hold up under normal road abuse.
3) Cost.

A small reference List of those setups that have been proven to work is good contribution to this site.

...cool, thanks 4 the information.
....The reason why i chose 19" rims instead of 18's are because I was only going to use them during spring and summer. For the rest of the year I planned to use stock 17's wrapped in tires made more for traction in the rain. And since rims are rims... why not get a bigger size than the next guy.. ...I was told by a friend to checkout tirerack.com, supposedly you can put different types of rims on whichever car you please. have to check it out next.
...and one more thing, I'm looking for rims that resembles the BBS RXII 3-piece...in 19's one short from the "DUB"
