Need A Place To Get Parts For a '56 Vette
I know that this is not the place to post something like this, but I have no clue where to go. So I just thought that I could just post here and maybe someone would know where I could go to find the parts. I.E. forum, or OL junk yard that keeps the parts in prestine condition.
Tnx

Do a search on yellow pages for a car place on 11 mile road in Berkley MI I cant remember the name. If no luck call Car Tunes at 248 547 4880 and ask them. It is right down the street.
They specialize in NOS parts for old chevys.
To clarify for the kids and ricers out there
NOS stands for New old Stock

Guys I just wanted to tnx u again. I found a place www.vettegal.com that has a $hit load of parts for the Vette.
They claim that they are the cheapest and all parts are brand new and not reconditioned.
If I find another place that has the same parts for cheaper I definatly let u guys know. I will still be shoping for the best, cheapest place for parts, till then www.vettegal.com is high on my list.
Oh and the recomendation to go to www.hemmings.com was VERY helpful, lots of stuff.
Tnx

Good Luck with your restoration,, I have had a 1966 mustang for the last 16 years and am continuing to restore it, it's a never ending project but it's a lot of fun. Keep the vett orginal as much as you can, those things are worth a pretty $$$ Post pictures, I like to see your vett project.

U know what fender u'r exactly right. Thats what I'll do. Snap a couple of photos now and later, to show a before and after. Also to show how things are going, step by step.
Oh get this I called www.vettegal.com to ask them about a few parts that I need now. I need the front oval grill, the 13 teeth with the bar and mounting braket, I also need the two front cresents under the headlights, the rear bumper, and the 6-piece exhaust. She's got all the parts. The only bitch is that it is gonna cost me easily more than 3K for all that.
I am keeping the car stock and origional. The engine has only 80K. Last week we started it for the 1st time in more than a decade. We replaced the fuel, hand cranked the engine (man what a FKin BITCH to do) , and the FKer started up. Oh and we had to replace the battery.
It looks pretty bad now. The interior needs resoration. The dash, seats, steering wheel, and floor need to be reapolstered. The top looks good for its age, but thats got to go to. The only good thing that I can say is that it doesn't have a scratch . The paint is very old and faded, but not a scratch.
I used to have a digi cam, well actually it was my friend's and I used it more than he ever owned it. Well that friend moved to Boston so I'm gonna have to break out the o'empty wallet and get myself a digi cam. If worse comes to worse I'll use 35mm and transfer it to disk and then post it.
Tnx Guys

vett parts are pricey,, get involved with the clubs,, they have a long source of parts and most buy directly from the manufacture,, don't just rely on vettgal, find other sources, usally they all come from a small number of manufactures. The clubs will help out, vett magazines also have sources. Just a word of from experience, do all the mechanicals first. I know you want to make the inside and paint look good but trust me when your working on the engine, bumps happen and the interior get grease stains. Good Luck, have fun. You have a very solid car to restore and you won't loose any money,, can't say that with most hobbies.

Hey TNX.
The mechanics aspect of the car seems very sound. My mechanic took it for a small test drive and came back to say that he couldn't find anything that he felt needed replacing. It was amazing for me to see that there was no pressure leak from the radiator when we pressure tested it. Heck the carbs didn't even need adjusting from the 10+ years that it never ran. So after seeing that the mechanical side of the car is fine I decided to tackle the eye sores.
I'll see this weekend about getting a digi-cam.
