Need Help ID'ing part under hood - ASAP

Any help would be appreciated. I'm at work so no pictures available. I was looking under the hood on the passenger side, just to the rear of the washer fluid resvior. There is a little black box mounted to the side panel. There is a wire running from this box, along the front of the car to the throttle linkage on the block. What is this black box and wire? The box has Honda PP-T on it and I was not able to find a part number on it. What is it?

I'm asking as the black wire running out of it (there is one black, 3 red) is almost completetly severed. the black casing is missing leaving the copper wires inside exposed and 3 of the 5 wires are broken. I'll take it in to the dealer to look at tonight; however, I just want to have some idea of what I'm dealing with before I go. Any help will be appreciated.

when you say wire you mean a mechanical wire and not an electrical wire right?

sounds like the cruise control unit

If it runs form those location it certainly sounds like the cruise control linkage. I assume the cable is about 3/8" in diameter??

OKay, I do have a pic of the box from when I had my accident a month ago. (They probably tore it during repair.)

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/asmolensk...iew=t&.hires=t

The wire that's ripped is the one that runs into the box, the throttle wire that runs around to the throttle linkage is seperate.

The black box is in the top right of the pic taking up most of the corner. If you look at the front of the box, one cable runs out the top, that's the mechanical cable, that's fine. The electrical wire that plugs into the bottom of the box below the mechanical cable is the one that has the black wire frayed.

I was picturing it wrong when I typed the first post and forgot I have these pictures up on yahoo photos.

If it is a signal wire to that box then your cruise control may not be functional. That boxes function is the crusie control. It looks like their are four conductors at the connector, two I assume would be power. The other two would be command signals and/or feedback. Either way it looks like the cruise control unit would not be functional, have you tried it??

Haven't tried it yet. I'll try it on my way home from work. The wire that frayed is the very left most wire in the picture of the four in that connector.

The dealer is not abel to 'see' me until next thursday and said that it may 'NOT' be covered under warranty depending on why it frayed. What the hell is that? It's NOT a wear and tear item and I didn't mess it up installing mods or anything, isn't the warranty supposed to cover things like this?

It's most certainly the cruise control assembly...
