My Rates are Finally Going Down!!!
Had to share the good news. I just got off the phone with my insurance company. My 6 month premium is going down from $1400 to $850 when I turn 25 this friday. Finally!!
And I'll finally be able to rent a car in peace (not that I would wnat to, driving this puppy).

I was paying $420 every 6 months (I'm 34) until I had a minor accident in my other car. I now have to pay $599 every 6 months for 3 years!
Just took defensive driving on-line for $40 to save $200 over the 3 years.

Well, there are two approved for Texas, txdriving.com and defensivedriving.com. You will need to contact your insurance company or court (if getting a ticket dismissed) to find those accepted by other states.

In a couple of years, you won't even remember being "underage" and in yet a few more years, you won't even care if they raise the rates of the younger people high as the ceiling.

Good to hear about your rates though Chummy!
Does anyone know if Defensive driving courses help with rates in CA?

Man...this is total crap. I've paid enough in premiums over the past 20 years that I could buy a loaded TL-S and travel accross the country for two weeks. It's ridiculous all that money and they raise your rates at the first accident, even if your not at fault. I've had minor stuff over the years, but if it's under $500.00 I fix it myself and never file a claim. I'm in the wrong business.

Exactly! I have been with USAA for 18 years and this was my first claim, and I was at-fault - so they say. They told me that over those 18 years my rates were progressively reduced over time, but now they must go up. If I keep a clean record for 3 years, they progressively go down again. Hell, at 18 I was paying about $700 or $800 for 6 months. It's definitely a racket!!!
