It also squeals like a pig when you try it in reverse. So your dad may have hearing problems too Andy, heh.

its like a chalkboard & fingernails kinda thing.

At least you dont have friends like Phil (Iridium130)
who floored his car while taking it for a spin and didnt know about the parking brake set by the foot!

Speaking of transmission design. What folks are referring too is the small device (pin) which holds your car in park. They are not designed to be very strong. However I have never really heard of one breaking. Even when the repo guys tow your car away in park, I still haven't heard of one breaking.


And the reason your car might roll back when in park is because the pin/rod has to find the notch to seat in.
