My Ghetto GPS setup [pics]

I had my Ipaq sitting around collecting dust for months, so I finally found a reson to use it.
I looked on ebay for a GPS antenna that would work with my ipaq. Got a pharos GPS kit for $100 on ebay a few weeks ago and then downloaded iGuidance GPS software to go with it.

I could not be happier. It works great and has saved me a couple of times to get around traffic jams

Some pics:

As you can see I have hidden the wiring the best I can and is a pretty clean install.

I put it on the left of the steering wheel becasue it is both easier to look at while driving and is better hidden than having it in the center in the way where everyone can see it.

Best mod yet.

waddya think?

Not bad. I prefer the copilot live software though.

I kinda prefer mine in the middle. I'll snap some pics tomorrow and show you had I did mine.

Not to shabby though.

because it's not a Type-S... The CL-P's don't have the white gauges.
Also note his tach shows redline at a little over 6000 RPM... CL-S's go up to 6900 before redline.
AND he has a button that says "TCS" instead of VSA

Don't be fooled by the redline, i've gone as high as 6600-6700 RPM before hitting the rev limiter. That redline is for show

My 99 tl-p use to hit the redline at 7 grand, but that could be due to the smaller diameter tires.

here's a pic of my setup, a garmin ique 3600, it's a custom mount made from a few different pieces, the only problem i have with it right now is the glare from the back window; i'm thinking about getting a shade for the back window, one that rolls up.

yo willdogs...that setup you have is EXACTLY what I'm lookin for...good deal! Is the touchscreen still relatively easy to navigate there? I've been thinking of puttingo n that side so it would be easier for me to see and press the screen...what do you think? Also, does having it in front of the vent with your climate control screw it up? IE does too much cold or hot air mess up the screen or anything? I don't wanna break anything unintentionally...lol

The touch scree works perfectly, with the software I use the butons are really big so it is easy to choose things while driving.

Yes, having it to the left of me is much easier to use while driving and also looks alot cleaner than having it in the middle of the dashboard. Also much easier to keep an eye on while driving.
The climate control doesn't bother it too much, but if I am putting FULL A/C or FULL HEAT, I simply just close that vent so that no air comes through it.

Thats very important. I used to have mine in the middle, kind of low. One day I looked down at the screen, looked up and clipped a reflector on a metal pole on an on-ramp. Plus the easier it is to see it, the better. When I use our Garmin GPS'(Bigger Units i.e. Street Pilot III) I put it in the corner at the bottom of the A-Pillar so its in my view all the time.
