My damn headlight keeps fogging up
is exactly how I feel right now.
Ever since I got my headlights from that guy Mr Z***s (who, I must say, charged a ridiculous amount), my right headlight keeps fogging up. The day I got my new HIDs in, I decided I'll check the headlight out. It SEEMS as though the seal is pretty tight. I noticed, however, that the 2 corner bulbs were not completely screwed in tight, so I figured that could be the problem. I tightened everything up, put em in, and waited until the next time it rained, or I washed my car. Well it's rained a couple of times, but the headlight never fogged. Well today, I went to the car wash and had them wash the car, as well as wax the entire thing. So then, I decided to go home, pick up the camera, find a nice spot to take some pics, and voila. Well I get out of my car, check everything out, and look at my front headlight, and it's all fogged up!! What the hell do I do people? I heard it's not good to have the condensation inside the headlight. So, does that mean I should use my headlights as little as possible until I can have the time to take the bumper off and check them out?
Once I do get them out, how exactly do I get the condensation out? I've heard you are supposed to use a blowdryer, but where exactly? I'm assuming I take all the bulbs/ballast off, and put the blowdryer to one of the openings? How long do I do it for? Then what the hell should I do? I need help guys, this is getting on my nerves Sorry for the rant.

did they clean (pressure wash) your engine? or use hot water when they washed your car?
both of my sets of factory sealed lights have fogged under those conditions.

maybe the bulbs came lose again or the rubber seal on the bulb isnt sealing it up. put some lubricating oil around the seals and wait to see if they fog up.
also, you shouldnt worry too much, if its only fogging up a bit your bulbs and stuff will be ok. if its a lot the nyou should worry.
last thing, CONTACT MR. Z!PPS ! im sure he would be more than happy to try and resolve this with you or maybe walk you through getting it fixed.

now about the rubber seal, which one would you be referring to? The one that goes under the cover of the HIDs? That thin little piece? Or is there another one that you're talking about?
As for getting out the water, how do I do it?

Mine did too.
Maybe it's just a loose bulb seal.

im talking about the turn signal bulbs highbeam and peanut bulb. they have a small rubber gasket/seal. make sure that the gasket is making contact with the housing so that it doesnt let in any moisture. dab a little oil around the rubber seal. when you take them out you should be able to see what im talking about. you can also do the thin piece where the HID ballast is just to be sure.
to get out the water, turn on the high beams for a little while and if theres anything left in there after about 15-20 minutes, use a hair dryer from the outside until its all gone.

mine fogged once when I washed my car, after I had cleared them. I just waited a few days for the moisture to clear. Then went back and put more silicone around the seal. Since then, no fogging.

that is why that clown is not part of these forums anymore... I tried to bring him on so he could sell his services and stand behind his work, but the pig got greedy and decided to do business behind our backs and stick our members with faulty headlights...
, but I tried..

tis ok Smitty, I know you tried
As for the headlights, I paid $200 to clear em and get black housing, PLUS shipping.
I asked numerous people on the boards if they could do it, and I got some feedback, but then when it came to it they never got back to me. I think I asked you as well AkuraCLS

apparently you scanned through the thread...and do not know what you are talking about... You were not present during my conversation with Dan ... so if you want to plan on referring him to other members, you can go join him on some other forum...

again fellas, I haven't gotten in contact w/ him yet. I will speak to him, but there is no point in trying to have him fix it personally. First off, I need the car, and w/out the headlight, I'm not driving. Secondly, I don't want to deal w/ taking that shit apart again, and then having to pay to ship it back and forth. I'll keep you guys updated once I speak w/ him.
AkuraCLS, I just might take you up on that offer

same thing happened to me after i cleared my lights. the driver side headlight started fogging during the winter. heres some advice: pop the hood and seal the creases you can get to with silicon. it worked for me.

fogging happens, one way to tell if it is a seal or or if it is just gonna happen regardless is if it keeps happening. if It drys up and happens again, even a little you know its the seal, if it happens once every 3 months or so, then there is probably water getting into the engine bay through a wheel well, or a loose bulb. good luck with it, i know its a pain in the ass to take off your bumper all the time.

It looks like the problem here is that you're on the other side of the country. I had the same problem as you with my passenger side headlight. This was 6 months after the aforementioned ex-member did my lights. Brought the bad light back to him and in 30 minutes he resealed it free of charge and all is well.
He does offer a warranty and he does stand behind his work. You paid all this money for it so you should at least try to work something out with him.
Short of resealing them yourself or finding someone local who does clearing, which is another good idea, the problem is just gonna keep coming up.

give it a week, if it fogs again, take it off and be generous with the silicon arround the creases. after it dries put some duck tape over the sockets, then turn your shower on with full hot water and leave it in the bathroom for about 10 minutes and see if it it fogs on the inside again.
