My car makes a "knocking noise" when i accelerate...

anyone ever had this problem...almost every time i press the accelerator when i come to a complete stop, or slow down to about 10mph make car makes a "Knock/Pop" sound from underneath...anyone have any clue on what this could be...

p.s. i hope it's not the comptech springs (maybe a bad install? i got it done in brooklyn from my dad's friend, but he did do it for free...)...i never noticed this problem before, it started recentley, and i had the springs on for about 5 months now...

do you have a CAI? Mine did that when it got loose sometimes, accelerating and going into 1st gear, because of the engine vibration--but most likely it's the springs.

i don't think it's anything vibrating, it's more like 1 knock from underneath the car every time i accelerate...it's driving me crazy cause the last few days i've been driving with the sterero either really low or off, and i hear the knock it every time...i wanna go to the dealer becuase i'm off of work today, but i'm afraid they might blame it on the springs or something...

I had a similar knocking/popping noise upon acceleration from the front passenger side that was driving me crazy. The dealer had it all day and ended up blaming it on my comptech springs and sways. After posting my problem on this web site and getting peoples suggestions, I discovered the solution to my noise...After tightening the lug nuts on the front passenger side wheel, the noise was gone. The lug nuts didn't even seem loose, but I guess it was loose enough to allow the wheel to move a bit when first accelerating. Probably the simplest fix ever yet not at all obvious. Hope this works for you.

this actually happened to my dad's RL...the technician took apart the suspension and rebuilt it before the noise went away.
they tried to just lubricate the bushings at first but the noise came back

Just pull the lug wrench out of your trunk (you know...the one you use to put on the spare tire) and tighten the nuts on your wheels.
